In Norgan’s frozen north, the Fimbl is a pale-scaled, four-legged dragon with wings, known as an ice wyrm. It attacks with freezing breath, upright ice spikes, and spells that silence you. Almost every strike glances off its tough hide, so win by staying near, enduring the cold, and hitting its vulnerable point whenever it is exposed.
Quick answer: Strike the glowing heart in its chest whenever it gathers magick or collapses onto its side, attack with fire, and let pawns stagger it with lightning. The armored body resists nearly everything.
This guide covers three Fimbl fights in Norgan. It is not a complete list, and the one at Lake Norgan with ballistas is a different encounter.
Fimbl weak point: the glowing chest heart
A heart embedded in the Fimbl’s chest is the key to defeating it. The heart shines orange-pink as the dragon gathers magick, and it glows again when a powerful spell leaves it lying on its side. Move beneath its chest or reach the downed dragon, then focus your attacks on the lit heart.
The head is your second target. The body barely registers blows, but the head takes far more. If the chest is turned away from you, switch to the head rather than wasting hits on the flanks. The best opening of all comes after a charged burst, when the Fimbl crashes down on its side and the heart sits exposed and bright. Commit everything in that window.

Add to Google Preferences →Fimbl damage multipliers and health
The Fimbl is weak to fire, resistant to ice, and immune to the Frostbite debilitation. Its body divides into many parts with their own damage values, but the pattern is simple: everything you hit on the trunk is reduced heavily, and the head soaks far less. These are the figures that matter while you line up your attacks.
| Damage type | Body | Head |
|---|---|---|
| Slash | x0.2 | x0.8 |
| Strike | x0.2 | x0.8 |
| Fire | x0.3 | x1 |
| Lightning | x0.2 | x0.6 |
| Holy | x0.2 | x0.6 |
| Ice | x0.1 | x0.1 |
Fire aimed at the head has the best part multiplier: x1. The Fimbl is a Draconic enemy with 240,000 Health, and its stronger variant has an identical Health pool. Its health is displayed as a narrow magenta bar, with five dots beneath the left edge. Each dot represents another full bar, making six bars to deplete before the kill.
Where to fight a Fimbl in Norgan
Beorcan Stronghold – Frozen Battleground
This Fimbl is tied to the quest Sage’s Wisdom – Riddle of the Soul and its objective “Face the fimbl.” The carved stone door at the front of the stronghold asks for two keys and is not your route. Instead, take the underground passage: drop from the snowy courtyard into a cellar floored with ice spikes, climb the two wooden ladders, and come up through a square stone opening onto a terrace in a whiteout, surrounded by beorcans frozen in ice. Use a Warming Salve, climb the long, wide stone staircase lined with frozen warriors, and the Fimbl appears at the top.
Norgan Snowfield plateau
A Fimbl rests on a snow plateau out on the Norgan Snowfield during a blizzard, lying beside a ruined riftstone and dragon skeletons. Walking up to it triggers the “Massive Enemy Encounter” banner reading “Encountered: Fimbl.” No quest objective is attached to this one.
Mountain Stronghold courtyard
The third Fimbl is in the Mountain Stronghold’s enclosed, snow-blanketed courtyard. From the Sealed Study tower, head downhill to reach it. The encounter banner appears here as well, and the dragon speaks before attacking.
Fimbl attacks and how to avoid them
- At its feet or rear, expect claw strikes, bites, stomps, and sweeps from its tail.
- Frost breath: It sends a lengthy blue jet skimming over the ground, then swings it from side to side. Move around to its flank rather than retreating directly backward.
- Ice spike fields: Luminous ground circles erupt into dense clusters of tall spikes that can trap you. Being knocked into the spikes causes damage.
- Silence: Purple light washes over the arena as its chest shines, preventing spellcasting until the effect is cured.
- Enrage: Red light spreads over its head and jaws as its attacks become more aggressive. Bring it down quickly or wait for the rage to pass.
- Arena-wide ice storm: Visibility turns white as ice pillars erupt across the entire floor, knocking down anyone left exposed.
- Flight and slam: it lifts off, hangs with ice shards around it, then crashes down and throws ice across the ground. Sprint from the landing spot.
- Rearing spell: Teal ice magick gathers in both foreclaws as it rises on its rear legs; it then crashes down, sending shards outward.
The logbook lists an effect called “Hailstorms.” In combat, a Fimbl can shift the weather and bring down hail, leaving you chilled while heavy damage hits at regular intervals. Some equipment skills can prevent hailstorm damage.
Pawns are most at risk if they remain exposed when the air turns white. In the Beorcan Stronghold ice storm, shelter behind the ruined stone pillar on the arena’s edge until the storm ends, then revive any fallen pawns.
How to beat a Fimbl as a Fighter
A sword-and-shield Fighter, three pawns, and a small supply of Stamina and Health curatives will do. Lightning-capable Mages are a big help, while giving a pawn a fire enchant exploits the Fimbl’s weakness. Expect a fight to take roughly five to eleven minutes this way.
Silence debilitation and cures
Silence stops any action that needs speech, which means spellcasters cannot incant until it is cured, and pawns lose their ability to speak. For a Fighter the cost is small, since your attacks do not rely on casting. If you are running magick, cure it with an Allheal Elixir, Panacea, or Soothing Brew rather than fighting on blind.
Fimbl drops: Frostbitten Scarthe, Wintry Dragon Scale, Frozen Wyrmslife Crystal
Frostbitten Scarthe falls during the fight and again on the kill. One on its own is worth nothing, but collecting eight of them turns into a ring by itself, chosen from the Ring of Inversion, Ring of Demonsbane, Ring of Gliding, Ring of Soliloquy, or Ring of Spellcraft.

Wintry Dragon Scale comes from the carcass after the fight and sells for 3,000 G. It forges thirteen pieces of Norgan gear, including the Smithed Northbound Cuirass, the Smithed Robe of Hallowing, and the Winter-Wisp Cape.

Only the Beorcan Stronghold Fimbl drops the Frozen Wyrmslife Crystal, the quest item for Sage’s Wisdom – Riddle of the Soul. It is a Valuable, and you take it to the Sphinx at the Shrine of Wisdom to answer the Riddle of the Soul. A Fimbl can also drop Norgan Ducat, Scrag of Beast, and Beast-Steak, and its carcass yields appraisable spoils such as Ancient Light Weaponry and Plastron.
How you know the Fimbl is dead
When the last dot empties and the final bar drains, the kill banner appears with a large experience and Discipline award and the drops drop into your pack. The exact totals differ between encounters, so expect figures in the range of +123,000 XP with +970 Dcp and +130,378 XP with +1,019 Dcp. At Beorcan Stronghold, the quest line updates to say, “You acquired a frozen wyrmslife crystal.” Take it to the Sphinx at the Shrine of Wisdom to answer the Riddle of the Soul.
