Catching better fish in Fishing Master comes down to raising two numbers and winning a short fight. Rods set your base Attack Damage and Luck, skills add burst damage on top of that, and skins and auras stack passive bonuses like Fish Value. Once your setup is strong enough, you cast into a ripple, clear the reel-in prompts, and land rarer, heavier fish.

Quick answer: Equip the strongest rod you own for higher Attack Damage and Luck, move your best skill onto it, add a skin and aura for extra Fish Value and bonuses, then land Perfect casts and clear the A/D/W pull prompts.

Upgrade to a rod with higher Luck and Attack Damage

Your rod decides how hard you hit and how lucky your catches are. Luck raises your chance at rarer fish, while Attack Damage is the baseline your skills multiply from. A weak rod means weak skills, so moving up to a stronger rod is the fastest way to start pulling better fish.

RodAttack DamageLuckRarity
Wooden Rod+217+1Common
Iron Rod+542+5Uncommon

Moving from the Wooden Rod to the Iron Rod more than doubles Attack Damage and raises Luck from +1 to +5. You buy better rods with Coins earned from selling catches, and some stronger rods are tied to hidden NPCs or quests rather than a single shop. Earn Coins, grab the next rod you can afford, then repeat as you reach new islands.

Move your skills onto the better rod

Skills are the super moves that chunk a fish’s health. They stay attached to the rod you learned them on, so when you buy a stronger rod, the skill does not carry over by itself. Trying to equip it anyway triggers the message You cannot equip more than you own! You have to unequip it from the old rod first.

Open the Equipments menu and go to the Skills tab on the rod that currently holds the skill, such as the Wooden Rod.

Unequip the skill from its slot on the old rod. A skill like Great Heaven-Equal Fishing Art deals 42x damage over 12 hits on a 5.5s cooldown, so it is worth carrying across.
Select the stronger rod, open a free skill slot, and slot the skill into its keybind (for example, the Z slot). More slots unlock as the rod levels up, at Lv. 3, Lv. 6, and Lv. 9.

You know it worked when the skill shows in the new rod’s keybind slot and the error no longer appears. With the skill moved, it now scales off the higher Attack Damage.

Removing a learned skill book from a rod to delete it can lose it permanently, so only unequip a skill you intend to re-slot elsewhere.

Add passive bonuses with skins and auras

Skins and auras are not just cosmetic. Each one applies a passive stat while equipped, and they stack with your rod and skills. Check what you already own and equip the strongest options instead of leaving them unused.

  • The Lotus Fan skin (Mythical) grants +5% Fish Value and +20% Movement Speed. It cannot be traded.
  • A Common aura grants +8.44% Jump Power; auras roll from the Aura Master NPC using Gems.
  • Skins can raise Fish Value and Attack Damage depending on the item, while titles add further buffs.

Fish Value increases the Coins you earn per catch, which speeds up every later rod upgrade. Movement Speed and Jump Power help you reach ripples and new fishing spots faster.

Land the cast and win the reel-in fight

A strong setup still needs a clean catch. Every hooked fish is a short battle: you deal damage while a fatigue meter builds under its health bar. Empty the health bar before the fatigue meter fills, or the fish escapes.

Walk to the water, hold click, and aim at a glowing circular ripple. Release the line on the Perfect window to start the encounter with a good hit.

For extra damage on the opening strike, click when the cursor is close to the meter’s upper edge. This damage boost affects only the first hit.
Keep clicking to attack, and press the A, D, or W keys as the arrow prompts appear. Fire your equipped skills to add burst damage and hold back the fatigue meter.
Drain the fish’s health to zero. A Fish Caught! popup confirms the catch and shows its name, rarity, and weight, such as a Common Metal Shark at 12.73 KG.

Build Golden Catch streaks and run daily quests

Golden Catch displays how many catches are left before your odds of landing a Golden Fish become high. A counter of 44 remaining means every fish you land brings you closer to that reward, so keep fishing instead of stopping after a rare catch.

Talk to the Quest Master NPC to pick up daily quests. You get up to 20 quests a day, each paying Gems and Coins, and clearing all 20 without abandoning any awards an extra +25 bonus Gems. A typical quest asks you to catch 3 Epic+ fish at Starter Island for 20 Gems and 10,000 Coins. Those rewards fund the next rod and more skill rolls, which loops straight back into catching better fish.

Redeem codes for free skills, auras, and skins

Codes hand out skills, auras, and rod skins that give you a head start on damage and Fish Value before you have farmed them. To redeem, launch the game, open the shop or code entry box, type a code exactly as written, and confirm.
