Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen – A Direwolf Delicacy Walkthrough (Snowdeer Bone Treat)

In Forsaken Dominion, Ilsa offers A Direwolf Delicacy as a side quest at the Norgandian Settlement in Norgan. She asks you to find the hounds a treat, but initially leaves its identity a mystery. Freki and her pups are looking for a Snowdeer Bone.

Quick answer: Bring a Snowdeer Bone to Ilsa in the Norgandian Settlement and hand it over, then return to her after time has passed to complete the quest.

How to start A Direwolf Delicacy

You need to finish the earlier quest In for a Hare, in for a Hound before this one opens. That quest also comes from Ilsa and has you deliver Alpine Hare Meat to feed the hounds. Once it is done, walk through the Norgandian Settlement and Ilsa will approach you with the request for a treat.

Where to find a Snowdeer Bone

Snowdeer live in Norgan, and both the animals and a bone pile in the wild can give you what you need. The closest spot is the riverbed country just north of the settlement, below Valgr Ravine.

Go north from the Norgandian Settlement, passing through its ruined stone archway. The map places “Valgr Ravine” immediately to the settlement’s north. Drop into the shallow riverbed strewn with stones.

Look for Snowdeer near the riverbed’s large boulders. Kill one, then select “Examine” on its carcass. A single deer may yield Scrag of Beast rather than a bone, so you may need to kill more than one.

Beyond the boulders, find a grassy rise where a narrow plume of smoke rises from a small campfire. Nearby, antlers and a skull rest with a ribcage on the grass. Use “Gather” while standing beside the bones. If you receive Scrag of Beast on your first try, gather again until you get Snowdeer Bone.

The game identifies the Snowdeer Bone as a snowdeer’s bone. It is hard, but its brittleness makes it unsuitable for forging, and it weighs 0.35 kg.

A Snowdeer Bone sells for 10,000 G. Keep your only bone until you have delivered it to Ilsa.

Deliver the Snowdeer Bone to Ilsa

Return to the fire basket and speak with Ilsa. She checks whether you brought a treat, then opens the delivery screen. Its slot is set to “Deliver Anything,” which allows you to select any item in your bag, but the Snowdeer Bone is the item she is happy with.

Select the Snowdeer Bone, choose “Deliver” and confirm. The quest log lists hint objectives to find a treat matching Ilsa’s description, ask Dorin about a treat, and find one that fits all the criteria. Handing over the Snowdeer Bone straight away skips all of those steps.

Ilsa is pleased with it, and the objective changes right away to “Wait to hear if the hounds enjoyed their treat.” The quest is not finished at this point.

Finish the quest and confirm it worked

After the delivery, let time pass and return to Ilsa. The last task reads “Ask Ilsa if the hounds enjoyed their treat.” Speaking to her then closes out A Direwolf Delicacy and pays out the rewards.

The Hound’s Scent Pouch holds the scents Freki likes. Activate it anywhere in Norgan to bring her to you. The pouch weighs 0.10 kg.
