Update 3 reshuffled the pecking order in Anime Origins, the Roblox tower defense game by Origins Project. The patch went live on October 7, 2026 and added eleven units, including Low, Luffo, Akinu, Borso, Smokade, and Zolo, several of which immediately landed in top roles. The current rankings split the roster into seven working groups so you can slot units by the job they actually do on the track rather than by a single overall grade.

Quick answer: Low, Madaro, Gilgamos, Inanna, Igritto, Shali, and Borso sit in the top overall bracket, while the rest of the roster is ranked by role across ground, hill, support, team buffs, and crowd control.

These placements reflect the Update 3 meta as of October 2026. Units are graded on damage output, crowd control, team buffs, and how reliably they cover ground enemies versus flying waves. Many units appear in more than one group because their kit fills multiple jobs.

Best of the Best: the top overall units

Across the current roster, seven picks stand out for reliable all-mode performance: Gilgamos (King of Uruk), alongside Inanna (Venus), Borso (Light Admiral), Low (Surgeon of Death), Shali (HellSnipe), Madaro (Edo Tensei), and Igritto (Commander). They make the cut by leading their roles and staying effective in multiple modes, rather than shining on just one map.

Low is the clearest standout among the new arrivals. It is rated the number one support in the game and shows up in three different groups at once, covering overall value, support, and crowd control. That flexibility is why it is worth building early.

Ground and hill damage

On the ground, Zolo (King of Hell) is the top pure ground attacker. Madaro and Gilgamos sit alongside him as hybrid units, meaning they handle ground targets while still contributing elsewhere, which keeps them useful even when your team is already stacked. Yoto, Luffo, Sosuke, Starku, and Goki round out the ground options for filling out a comp.

For hill slots that must cover airborne foes, Shali (HellSnipe) ranks first; Vegita (Super) comes next, with Smokade (White Hunter) after him. Later stages bring punishing flying waves, making an early investment in a capable hill unit just as important as a dependable ground carry.

Support, team buffs, and crowd control

The support group splits into two flavors. Standard supports like Low, Inanna, Reinhart, Mykie, Bon, and Melio help your carries directly, while the team-based supports — Sabo (Flame Emperor), Arturia (Knight King), Akinu (Magma Admiral), and Arturia Alt (Corrupted King) — are built around buffing the whole squad.

Crowd control is where you stall and lock down dangerous waves. Kazan (Ice Admiral), Low, Psychy (No Limiter), Goju (Honored One), Furotori (Gravity Admiral), Aneko (Queen), and Starku (Primordial) handle that job, buying damage windows for your main attackers to work.

A newcomer can build a dependable six-unit lineup without rare pulls, with coverage across the board. Use Bluma (Data Analyst) and Leo to generate cash for wave-by-wave upgrades, while Aneko (Queen), Gilgamos (King of Uruk), Vegita (Super), and Sosuke (Eternal) handle damage and control.

The farm pair matters as much as the damage units early on. Bluma and Leo keep your economy running so you can afford to max your carries before the harder waves arrive.

Why Luffo is worth grabbing now

Luffo (Strawhat) currently lands in the ground group, but it is flagged as a unit to secure sooner rather than later. A Gear 5 evolution is expected to raise its value considerably, which makes grabbing the base unit now a sensible hedge. No official date for that evolution has been confirmed, so treat it as a planned upgrade rather than a scheduled one.

Rankings in Anime Origins move with every patch, and balance changes, new units, and better-understood synergies can shift placements quickly. Use these groups as a working guide to where the roster stands in Update 3, and revisit your loadout once the next batch of units lands.
