Restoring Nate’s Blade in Fisch starts with tracking down two separate pieces: the Crimson Centerpiece and the Broken Blade. One comes from fishing a hidden red cavern, the other from a maze buried in The Depths. Neither drops on your way to the other, so plan to make two distinct trips.

Quick answer: Fish the Crimson Cavern pool for the Crimson Centerpiece (roughly a 1 in 50 catch), and grab the Broken Blade inside The Depths maze after opening it with a Hexed Enchant Relic and an Abyssal Enchant Relic.

What you need before you start

Gathering a few items first saves you a round trip, especially for the Broken Blade. The maze gate will not open without both relics in hand, so collect them before you dive.

  • A Scavenger Rod with the Scavenger mutation, for the best shot at the Crimson Centerpiece.
  • One Hexed Enchant Relic, used to open the Depths maze.
  • One Abyssal Enchant Relic, the second key for the maze gate.
  • The Nate’s Quest line active, so your objective markers point you to the right spots.

Carry both relics into The Depths at once. If you arrive missing one, you will have to leave the maze area entirely to go find it.

How to get the Crimson Centerpiece in Crimson Cavern

The Crimson Centerpiece is a rare catch pulled from the glowing red water inside Crimson Cavern, near the Desolate Deep. It is not a guaranteed pickup, so expect to sit through a run of casts before it appears.

Sail out to the Desolate Deep and look for the red buoy marking the area. Crimson Cavern connects off this part of the ocean, so use the buoy to line yourself up and head in.

Enter the cavern and equip the Scavenger Rod with its Scavenger mutation. Miso, Nate’s cat, sits by the red pool and marks the exact spot you want to fish.
Cast into the pool and keep reeling. The Crimson Centerpiece drops at roughly a 1 in 50 rate, so standard bait and a fast cast rhythm beat slow, premium-bait casts here. Volume of attempts is what gets you the item.

You will know it landed when the catch banner reads “Rare Find! You just caught a Crimson Centerpiece! (1/50)” and the item enters your inventory.

How to get the Broken Blade in The Depths maze

At the maze’s far end in the Depths, you’ll find the Broken Blade lying on the ground next to the statue that holds the Rod of the Depths. Neither fishing nor luck is required; getting there is the hard part, since you must use both relics to open the maze gate.

Search the ocean surface for a Strange Whirlpool. A “Strange whirlpool has spawned!” notice appears when one forms, and it spawns at random spots across the map. Drive your boat into it to get pulled down toward Vertigo.

Once you land in Vertigo, drop down through Vertigo’s Dip and keep descending toward the entrance to The Depths. Follow the chasm down until you reach the maze gate.

At the gate, place each relic on its matching pedestal. The colors are easy to mix up, so use the pairing below before you set either one down.

With both relics placed correctly, the maze opens. Swim through the winding path, following the colored neon markers along the walls, until you reach the Rod of the Depths station at the far end.
Look at the rocky floor right beside the rod. The Broken Blade rests loose on the ground with an “[E] Broken Blade Pick Up” prompt. Interact with it to add it to your inventory.

Confirm both pieces and restore Nate’s Blade

You have both pieces once the Crimson Centerpiece shows in your inventory from the cavern catch and the Broken Blade registers from the maze pickup. The quest objective “Find 1 Crimson Centerpiece / Find 1 Broken Blade” updates as each one lands.

Return to Nate’s Cave on Sunstone Island and go to the table in front of the sofa. Interact with it to combine the two pieces and rebuild Nate’s Blade. That reassembly opens the next stage of the quest, the Perfect Catch trials starting at Moosewood Docks.
