Norgan in Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen holds several riftstones you can use to pull new pawns into your party, plus broken stones out in the wilds that pay rift crystals when you piece them back together. Here is where the Grand Riftstone of Norgan stands, how hiring works once you step into the rift, and what restoring a broken stone gives you. This covers the riftstones seen so far in Norgan; it is not a complete list.

Quick answer: The Grand Riftstone of Norgan sits on the grass behind Jiera’s house at the east side of the Norgandian Settlement, east of the bonfire. Hold Examine (Hold) to enter the rift and hire pawns. Restoring a broken grey riftstone pays 90 RC.

Grand Riftstone of Norgan location

Jiera’s spot shows as “Jiera’s Appraisals” on the settlement map. It is only a few seconds on foot from there: head past the woodpile and barrel, under the trees, and up a short flight of stone steps. A small wooden building sits right behind the stone.

How to hire pawns in the rift

Inside the rift, the label “Grand Riftstone of Norgan” shows on screen. The header at the top of the screen is a tab you turn with L1 and R1. The tabs include “General Information,” “Specialization/Quest,” “Armor SP Skill,” and “Weapon SP Skill,” with eight dots below the header to mark more tabs beyond those. Changing the tab changes what the small tag over each pawn shows.

On “General Information,” each pawn’s tag shows a name, a level, and a hire cost in RC. Walk up to a pawn and the prompt reads Hail (Hold to Talk). The pawn’s card opens on the left (traits, rating, quest guide, pawn quest and reward, arisen details) and the menu on the right lists “Hire” with the RC cost, “View Pawn Details,” “View Arisen Details,” “Add to Favorites,” and “Cancel.” The “View Arisen Details” option does not appear on every pawn.

Your own main pawn offers just “Talk” and “Never mind.” when you speak to it in the rift. Touch an ordinary riftstone to bring back a main pawn you forfeited.

On the same visit the cost steps up with the pawn’s level, and some pawns cost nothing. The screen showed the following on two different visits:

VisitPawn levelHire cost
FirstLv. 390 RC
FirstLv. 4168 RC
LaterLv. 5927 RC
LaterLv. 6061 RC

If your party already holds two support pawns, hiring opens “Switch Pawn” with the line “Select the pawn you wish to dismiss.” and the choices “Dismiss,” “View Details,” and “Cancel.” Dismissing a pawn leads to a gift pick and then a “Rating” screen reading “Choose a rating.”: a thumbs-up, a heart, or “None,” alongside a “Days Traveled” line.

To leave, walk to the edge of the mist. The prompt “Leave the rift?” appears with “Yes” and “No,” and you come out standing beside the stone.

Restoring broken riftstones for 90 RC

In the wilds, a broken riftstone appears as a circular dais with two raised rings and grey rubble piled at its center, where the standing stone would normally be. Climb onto the dais and hold Examine (Hold). Green-white motes float upward as the rubble joins into a rounded grey stone with a spiral carving; a “90 RC” notice then appears at the screen’s right edge.

Each of these three repaired broken stones granted 90 RC:

  • On a snowy cliff ledge on the way up from the canyon stairs toward the terrace of winged-beast statues. The dais sits against the cliff face on a small platform, with a Fungal Cure-All on the ground a few steps before it.
  • In a hollow in the snowfield, large dragon bones lie scattered across the ground. The stone is at the near end of the bones beside a bare bush. A live dragon rests a short distance past it, so restore the stone before it wakes.
  • Inside Mordria Temple, in a stone room with a carved pillar and a barred gateway. The dais is against the wall left of an arched doorway, with a chest visible through that doorway.

Riftstone of Robustness in the Mountain Stronghold

One broken stone behaves differently. Inside the Mountain Stronghold, a broken riftstone sits on a round dais in the snow beside a carved stone wall and pillars, under cover of the ruin. Hold Examine and the rubble flies together, the stone lights blue, and you are dropped straight into the rift. The label here reads Riftstone of Robustness, and its description reads “Find pawns with a brawny build.”

Named riftstones in Norgan

Alongside the broken stones, some riftstones in Norgan carry their own names. These are the named stones seen so far:

Riftstone of RobustnessInside the Mountain Stronghold“Find pawns with a brawny build.”
Riftstone of the CalmSnowfall Valley Cavity (B2F)“Find pawns of the calm inclination.”

The Riftstone of the Calm shows as a map label only. Open the map inside Snowfall Valley Cavity and switch to the floor tab marked “B2F” (the tabs read 1F / B2F / B1F); a riftstone icon on the western branch of the ruins carries the “Riftstone of the Calm” name, south-west of the portcrystal icon at the top of a passage running south-west. A riftstone name, “Castletown Riftstone,” also appears on the Norgan map.

Mountain Stronghold Riftstone and the hidden prompt

The Mountain Stronghold Riftstone is a low round boulder covered in glowing blue rune lines, set on a ring of stone steps in the snow a few steps east of “Norgan Portcrystal: Northwall Campground.” The Examine (Hold) prompt is fussy about where you stand.

The prompt only shows when you stand on the steps at the stone’s south-west foot, facing the stone, with your weapon sheathed. If no prompt appears, sheathe your weapon and move round to that side.

Dark purple rune stones

Elsewhere in Norgan, you may find short, dark stumps with flared ends, resting on circular stone bases and traced with glowing purple runes. They differ from the grey broken stones. Locations include the snowy clearing just beyond the icicle-hung stone gate near Rivercave Campground; a patch of snow beside a large boulder; a dark field by a ruined doorway in the Brinerot Grotto area; a snowy terrace just outside a stone alcove with a Panacea chest; and a ruined chamber with cracked, snow-covered flagstones.

At least one of these stones displays only the simple “Examine” prompt. None produced a rift crystal notice or opened a rift screen. Their reward remains unknown, so a purple stone should not be expected to pay 90 RC.
