Manticore is the Divine pet tied to the Fairy Event in Grow a Garden, and it is the hardest reward in the update to actually land. It only comes out of the Fairy Chest, which you earn by handing in Glimmering crops at the Wishing Well. The catch is a drop rate of just 0.5% per chest, so even a long grind guarantees nothing.
Quick answer: Complete Fairy Favor quests at the Wishing Well, pick a Fairy Chest when it appears as a reward, and open it. Each chest has a 0.5% chance to contain Manticore.

How to earn Fairy Chests in Grow a Garden
The Fairy Chest is the only in-game route to Manticore, and you get chests by working through Fairy Favor quests. These quests live at the Wishing Well in the Fairy Event area and ask you to submit specific crops carrying the Glimmering mutation. The questline runs through five tiers, and chests only start appearing as a reward option from Tier 2 onward.

Once you finish all five tiers, you can restart the whole questline by paying 7,500 Fairy Points. Each fresh run gives you more chances at chests, and the higher the tier, the more often a chest appears in your reward choices.

These figures are the odds that a Fairy Chest shows up as a reward option when you complete a Favor. They are not the odds of pulling Manticore. Higher tiers are worth prioritizing because they put a chest in front of you far more often, and Tier 5 can offer three chests at once.
| Fairy Favor tier | Chance a Fairy Chest is offered |
|---|---|
| Tier 1 | None |
| Tier 2 | 7.69% |
| Tier 3 | 17.24% |
| Tier 4 | 22.73% |
| Tier 5 | 27.03% |

What the 0.5% odds mean in practice
Every chest you open is an independent 0.5% roll, so opening 200 chests does not promise a Manticore. The table below shows the chance of getting at least one across several totals. Even at 200 chests, roughly a third of players still walk away empty-handed.
| Chests opened | Chance of at least one Manticore |
|---|---|
| 10 | ~4.9% |
| 50 | ~22% |
| 100 | ~39% |
| 200 | ~63% |
Since more rolls is the only way to improve your odds, keep restarting the questline and farm the top tiers. Grow a wide spread of Favor crops so you are rarely blocked waiting on one plant.
Buying Manticore instead of grinding
There are two shortcuts if the grind is not working out. The Limited Time Shop sells Fairy Chest bundles for Robux, priced at 199 for one chest, 575 for three, and 1,699 for ten, with the Manticore listed at a 3% chance in that shop breakdown. You can also skip chests entirely and buy the pet directly from other players in Trade World.
Trade prices start high on launch day and tend to drop as more players pull the pet. Compare several listings before committing a large pile of tokens, because the first offer you see is rarely the best deal once the hype cools off.

How the Beast of Omen passive works
Beast of Omen, Manticore’s passive, activates every 30 minutes by eating a fruit that has eight or more mutations and starting a sequence of possible effects. Its first roll has a 20% chance to give a random fruit the Toxic mutation. If that succeeds, another 20% roll determines whether the following effect activates; this repeats until a roll fails.
The chain runs through these effects in order:
- Toxic mutation applied to a random fruit
- A large XP boost
- A large passive boost for a pet
- 12,000 XP
- A pet ability refresh
Because each step needs its own 20% success, deeper effects are rare. The chain reaches the XP boost only around 4% of the time, and the full run through the ability refresh lands roughly 0.16% of the time. Most activations stop at the first or second effect, so expect steady Toxic mutations rather than a jackpot every half hour.
The passive permanently consumes the mutated fruit it eats. Keep a supply of fruit with eight or more mutations on hand, and do not leave a one-of-a-kind, heavily mutated fruit sitting where Manticore can swallow it.

Managing Manticore’s hunger
Manticore carries a hunger bar of 285,000, the largest of the Fairy Event pets by a wide margin. A hungry pet stops using its passive, so you need a feeding plan the moment you place it in your garden.
The easiest fix is the Moth, which sings to your hungriest pet every 13 minutes and tops up its bar. Running one or two Moths removes the need to feed Manticore by hand and keeps Beast of Omen firing on schedule.
How to confirm you got Manticore
When a chest contains the pet, the opening reel lands on “Manticore” with the Divine rarity tag. After that, open your pet inventory and you will see the winged lion listed there and walking around your garden once placed. If the pet appears in your inventory, the pull worked.
The Fairy Event is set to run until October 17, 2026, and Manticore will likely become much harder to get once it ends. If you want one through chests, open them while the event is still live.
