RF Online Next Orthrus: The New Legendary Launcher in the 10/14 Update

The Legendary launcher is a reward for maxing the Chiron Laser Cannon, and it arrives alongside new events, exchange shops, and cash packages.

Orthrus is a Legendary grade launcher in RF Online Next, added with the October 14 maintenance. It sits under the [New] > [Launcher] > [Growth] tab, and you cannot pull it from a banner or buy it directly. Earning it depends entirely on how far you have pushed the Chiron Laser Cannon, the launcher that comes before it. The same patch brings a new vote event, a set of siege preparation tracks, discounted exchange shops, and several cash packages.

Quick answer: Raise the Chiron Laser Cannon to Level 120 to complete the “Chiron Laser Cannon Level Up Complete” achievement. That awards the Launcher Orthros-Type (LC) Blueprint, which unlocks the Orthrus build in the Growth tab.

How Orthrus unlocks through the Chiron Laser Cannon

Launchers are heavy battlefield weapons in RF Online Next, sitting alongside the MAU mechs as large-scale combat tools. Orthrus is the Legendary tier entry in that line, placed in the Growth tab rather than handed out as a drop or a summon. The in-game preview card ties it to the Chiron Laser Cannon, so progress on that weapon is the gate.

Instead of crafting Orthrus from scratch, you earn its blueprint first. Finishing the Chiron Laser Cannon milestone awards the Launcher Orthros-Type (LC) Blueprint, and that blueprint is what opens the build. If you have never leveled a Chiron Laser Cannon, Orthrus stays locked until you do.

You can track the cannon’s current level and remaining materials from the Hanger, under the Launcher menu, by opening the Level Up dialog on the weapon. The climb to Level 120 is steep, and the final milestone scales up sharply. Here is what that last step demands.

RequirementAmount for Lv. 120
Launcher Enhancement Node97,000
Arcane Node97,000
Credits57,400,000

Because the cost spikes near the cap, a cannon still sitting in the mid-80s has a long way to go. Once Level 120 lands, the achievement completes, the blueprint arrives in your inventory, and Orthrus becomes buildable from the Growth tab. That inventory blueprint is how you confirm the unlock worked.

Minority Vote Event: rules, rounds, and rewards

The “Join the ranks of the Elite Minority!” vote event runs from 10/14/2026 06:00 to 10/28/2026 06:00. You farm (Event) Minority Vote Coin from monsters level 43 or above in Battlegrounds, Zone Dungeons, Albern Crater, or Albern Warzone, then wager those coins across three daily voting rounds.

You can wager up to 100 coins per vote across options A, B, or C. Voting for the candidate with the fewest votes counts as a win, and the reward scales by round. A second-place finish or a tie refunds 100% of your wagered coins, while backing the option with the most votes loses everything you put in.

RoundVoting periodReward if you pick the minority
Round 109:00 – 10:00200% of coins spent
Round 213:00 – 14:00300% of coins spent
Round 320:00 – 21:00500% of coins spent

Coins feed an exchange list with daily and weekly caps. The (Event) Minority Vote Coin Bundle costs 1 and is capped at 7 per character per day. The Random Node Chest, Bearer Credit Note, and Rare Talic Chest each cost 3 with a weekly cap of 10, and the Core Link Enhancement Kit Selection Chest costs 5, also capped at 10 weekly.

Sticking with the event to the end grants the (Event) Minority Vote Grandmaster title, which carries Max HP 777 and Max FP 777 when equipped, plus a 1% Credit Gain owned effect.

Siege Prep Step 2 support tracks

Siege Prep Step 2 bundles three progress tracks that each pay out toward a different upgrade path. They feed directly into readiness for the Albern Fortress siege.

Launcher Enhancement Support

This track rewards launcher upgrade nodes and credits for summoning launchers up to 10 times and leveling them up to 4 times. It pairs naturally with the Chiron Laser Cannon grind that leads to Orthrus.

Faction Card Upgrade Support

Defeating Battlegrounds monsters hits milestones ranging from 2,000 up to 30,000 kills, paying out faction card materials and bearer credits along the way.

Talic Upgrade Support

Clearing Scion Training [Biosuit] up to 30 times awards Rare Talic Level 2 Selection Chests and reward chests. The event menu tracks your clear count as it climbs toward the cap.

Special Adventure Coin Shop

The Special Adventure Coin Shop sells discounted chests for Adventure Coins. The Lucky Adventure Coin Chest costs 50 coins each with a 50-per-week limit, and the Adventure Mission Contract Chest costs 500 coins with a 3-per-week limit. Skill books also appear on the list.

The Lucky Adventure Coin Chest weights heavily toward small returns. A 100 Adventure Coin payout lands 75% of the time, 200 coins at 15%, 500 coins at 5%, 1,000 coins at 3%, and 2,000 coins at just 2%.

New cash shop packages

Several packages went on sale with the patch, split between real-money and Diamond pricing. Each carries a per-character purchase cap.

Those collection effects stay active until 11/04/2026.

The Diamond-priced packs round out the list. The Weekly Upgrade Support Pack ships weapon skin bonuses, and the Monthly Upgrade Support Pack carries tickets and upgrade selection chests.

Content that closed out on October 14

The 100 Days event dungeon Lunatic Factory ended on October 14 at 06:00, the same morning the update went live. Its companion storefront, the Moonlight Shard Exchange Shop, ran on the identical window from 09/23/2026 06:00 to 10/14/2026 06:00.

That shop included a betting-style minigame for turning in event currency, so any Moonlight Shards and related crafting materials left after the cutoff no longer have a use. Spending them before the window closed was the only way to get value from the remainder.

Albern Fortress Siege War and the Mining War rework

The first Siege War for Albern Fortress is set for 10/26/2026, with sign-ups handled through the Outer Planet interface. The in-game timer counts down to when registration closes, and the fortress already shows accumulated taxes building up for whoever ends up holding it.

A reworked Mining War is also planned, moving the mode toward cross-server guild competition across up to three servers. No official date for that change is currently confirmed, so treat it as a direction rather than a dated event.

For anyone weighing where to spend time, the priorities are clear enough. Orthrus rewards a long investment in the Chiron Laser Cannon, the Minority Vote Event closes on October 28, and the Albern siege is the next large-scale fight on the calendar.
