Field bosses in Aion 2 look like a leveling-era chore, the kind of open-world target you outgrow the moment your dungeon set gets strong. That read is wrong. The gear a boss drops is only one of four payoffs, and the other three keep paying out long after you would ever equip a single piece it hands you. Each kill feeds a permanent progression system, which is why players keep clearing the same bosses well into the endgame.
Quick answer: Keep killing field bosses for four reasons — Artwork Scraps for Substance Morph, spare boss gear turned in for Abyss Points, duplicate gold Unique pieces saved for substat rerolls, and skin extraction that builds Closet Collection Effect bonuses.
Artwork Scraps and Substance Morph
Field bosses drop Artwork Scraps, and those scraps feed the Substance Morph system. Collect enough and you craft a permanent artwork, such as Artwork: Eternal Gartua, that you slot into your Pantheon for a standing stat increase. Crafting one from scraps takes 20,000 Artwork Scrap: Field Boss I, so this is a slow drip rather than a one-session grab.

These rewards affect gameplay, not just appearance. Completing an artwork adds edge stats to attributes such as Illusion, Space, Death, and Destruction, which count toward your combat power score. Artwork: Eternal Gartua, for instance, provides bonuses to Illusion, Life, Wisdom, and Destiny. After a boss stops dropping gear worth chasing, its artwork remains a reason to defeat it. The benefit is a lasting stat increase, not another armor slot you can swap out.
The level 48 bosses hand out their unique artwork at a 25% chance per kill, so even the direct artwork drop is reasonably frequent on top of the scrap trickle.

Add to Google Preferences →Turn spare boss gear into Abyss Points
Before you dismantle the armor and weapons a boss drops, check the Abyss Supply Request interface. Open the Escape menu, pick Supply Request, and look at the Regular: Boss tab. Specific boss items are requested there, and handing them in pays out in Abyss Points instead of the scrap you would get from dismantling.

The payouts are large. Completing an Eternal Gartua delivery returns 67,000 Abyss Points for the right items. Those points buy Stigma Shards, so gear you would otherwise vendor becomes a route to your skill upgrades.

Deliveries are taken in pairs, so hold onto duplicate boss pieces until you have two to submit rather than tossing the first one.
Keep duplicate gold Unique gear for substat rerolls
Gold Unique pieces are worth storing even when you will never wear them. Duplicates feed substat rerolls on your maximum item-level gear. When a reroll is available, those spare pieces let you swap off weaker lines, such as HP, status effect chance, or back attack, in favor of attack power and might.
That changes the math on dismantling. A Unique drop lower than your equipped item is not automatically junk. Move duplicates into storage first, confirm the piece has no reroll, Supply Request, or appearance value, and only then treat it as ordinary unwanted gear.
Unlock Closet Collection Effect bonuses
Extracting a boss item’s appearance registers it in the Closet, and the Closet’s Collection Effect tracks weapon, armor, and accessory completion as a percentage. As those percentages climb, they grant passive combat stats that apply whether or not you ever use the skin.

The bonuses are concrete per category. A completed longsword line reads as a Longsword Attack increase of +3.2%, and a helm line as a Helm Defense increase of +4%, with accessory lines adding their own attack and defense. Every new boss appearance you extract pushes one of those bars higher.
Field boss drop and schedule reference
The three level 48 bosses — High Commander Lagta, Soul Ruler Kashapa, and Silent Dartan — share one drop profile. Each is a Hero-rank Cogni and guarantees its own loot chest, with the rest rolling on these chances per kill.
| Drop | Rarity | Chance |
|---|---|---|
| Boss artwork | Unique | 25% |
| Common | 46.7% | |
| Rare | 11.7% | |
| Epic | 5.8% | |
| Boss loot chest (Bound) | Special | Guaranteed |
Each boss’s unique armor and accessory slots roll between 6.4% and 12.9%, so a full set takes repeated clears rather than a single lucky kill. The Artwork Scrap itself is a level 1 Unique Misc item that cannot be traded and vendors for 100 kina, which is why it is only useful fed into Substance Morph.
Most field bosses appear on normal world respawn timers, but the level 65 Hero bosses in Chaotic Lower Reshanta run on fixed weekly windows. Plan around these if you want their earth and vagabond gear or their artwork.
| Boss | Days | Time (server) |
|---|---|---|
| Sun, Fri | 21:00 | |
| Mon, Thu, Sat | 21:30 | |
| Mon, Thu, Sat | 21:30 |
Guardian Lord Nahma spawns at three Reshanta locations — Reshanta’s Root, Devastated Remnants, and the Black Fragments Area — all on the same window. These Reshanta bosses are the newest additions and may not be live on every server yet, so check the map’s Field Boss tab before you travel.
How to know it is paying off
You will see the progress across four screens. Your scrap count climbs toward the 20,000 needed in Substance Morph, the Regular: Boss tab shows a Delivery Complete after a turn-in and adds Abyss Points to your HUD, duplicate gold Uniques sit ready in storage for the next reroll, and the Closet’s Collection Effect percentages tick up with each extracted skin. A workable routine is to clear every available boss once a day, which steadily feeds all four without burning you out on a single target.
