In Aion 2, Arcana are card-like equipment pieces placed in dedicated slots beside your weapon and armor. They are the primary means of raising class skills above their usual limit and increasing Gear Score at the cap. During levelling, they may seem unimportant; at endgame, parties routinely expect you to have them. Cards come from just one reliable source, so directing your play time well matters more than luck.

Quick answer: Reach level 45 with a Gear Score of at least 1600, clear a Transcendence dungeon, then open the Odyle Energy Cube at the end with an Unobtained Cube Coupon. Arcana cards drop from that cube.

What Arcana cards do and the five slots

Characters have five Arcana positions—Chalice, Parchment, Compass, Bell, and Mirror—and each accepts its corresponding card type, letting you equip no more than five at once. Arcana become equippable at character level 45. Since replacing a card is free, you can switch between setups for different content.

Each card carries three things. It grants one Empyrean Lord stat, a named stat such as Time [Siel] or Destruction [Zikel] that feeds passive bonuses like combat speed, cooldown reduction, attack, and critical hit. It adds levels to some of your class skills, pushing them above the normal cap. And it belongs to a set. Every “of Vigor” card is part of Primal Vigor, and every “of Magic” card is part of Magic Armor, with bonuses that trigger at two and four matching cards.

The slot determines which skills a card may receive. Chalice covers every skill in your class; Parchment and Compass divide the active skills, while Bell and Mirror divide the passive ones. No card can have a Stigma skill. Skill rolls are set when the card is acquired, so inspect its results before spending resources on it.

Grades decide stats, skill lines, and the enhancement ceiling

A card’s grade determines its Empyrean Lord stat value, item level, number of skill lines, and enhancement limit. Grey (Common) cards have one line, green (Rare) cards have two, blue (Epic) cards have three, and gold (Unique) cards have all four. Improving a card won’t grant extra lines later; enhancement only boosts the ones it started with.

GradeLord statSkill linesMax enhance
Common (grey)+81+2
Rare (green)+122+3
Epic (blue)+163+4
Unique (gold)+204+5

Because a gold card lands with all four skill lines already set, which skills it rolled matters enormously. A Unique card with lines on a skill you never press is worth less than a lower-grade card sitting on your core rotation.

Farm Arcana cards in Transcendence

For players working on their Arcana collection, Transcendence is the relevant progression path, since Exploration bosses offer no Arcana drops. It is a scored seasonal party-dungeon mode for 1–5 players, unlocked after level 45, with a minimum entry Gear Score of 1600.

Hit level 45 and build your Gear Score to 1600. That is the entry point for the lowest Transcendence tier, where the Arcana farming loop begins.
Enter a Transcendence dungeon that carries Arcana loot. Each dungeon has four stages of rising difficulty and Gear Score requirements, and higher stages hand out higher grades. Grey and green cards are normal early; blue cards come in as you climb, then gold at the top.

Clear the dungeon, then open the Odyle Energy Cube at the end using an Unobtained Cube Coupon. The cards come out of that cube. In the Transcendence menu you can select a dungeon and click the percentage icon next to Cube Reward to see the drop rate of every card in it and which boss drops each one.
Use the cards and materials you pull to raise your Gear Score, then move up to the next stage. Stage 4 is where the best-in-slot cards for your character live, so the loop is simply farm, upgrade, and push higher.

Your weekly allowance is 10 Unobtained Cube Coupons, shared between Transcendence and Conquest Expeditions. Completing 10 Conquests in the week uses the full allowance, preventing you from opening a Transcendence cube until Wednesday’s weekly reset. Attempts you leave unused expire rather than rolling over, so missing a week means lost progress.

Craft a Unique card early with Transmute

Your first gold card doesn’t have to wait until you can farm the highest stage: Transmute can make one for you. Choose its set, slot, and grade, then lock as many as two skill lines; any unlocked lines are randomized. Locking additional lines raises the price. Transmutation uses Mysterious Crystals and Kina, and its cooldown prevents repeated crafting without a break.

Mysterious Crystal (Bound) is the main material for transmuting Arcana. It stacks to 1000, cannot be traded, and sells for 10,000 Kina. You can also buy it from the coin shop for 25,000 Oath Coin, and it shows up in battle pass rewards. The usual Transmute recipe asks for five crystals.

Start by crafting a Chalice. No other slot can receive a roll for any class skill, and gold Chalices join the regular drop pool later than the other slots. Crafting one therefore gets around a progression gate instead of making a card you could already farm. Landing your main damage skill on a Chalice is the system’s largest single upgrade.

At the beginning of each season, Transmutation either resets or changes. Consider a crafted card a boost for the current season, not a lasting investment.

Turn unwanted cards into Mysterious Crystals

A bad drop is never a wasted clear. Cards you do not plan to equip have two uses: feed them into a card you want to level for enhancement EXP, or extract them into Mysterious Crystals for Transmute. Mysterious Crystals mostly come from extracting Arcana you obtained by farming, which is exactly why volume beats luck here.

Which way to go depends on what you need next. If you already own a card with the right skills, feed spares into it. If you are still missing a slot, extract and save toward crafting it. Ascension Trial and seasonal rewards also hand out crystals, and the Season Shop sells a capped number per season.

Enhance cards with spare Arcana and Training Arcana

Card enhancement is guaranteed to succeed. Use surplus Arcana or Training Arcana to supply EXP; whenever a card gains an enhancement level, one of its existing skill lines gains +1 at random and its item level also rises by +1. Unique cards can reach +5. Training Arcana are EXP materials, not equippable cards: they improve cards in your collection but never provide a new card to equip.

Training ArcanaEnhance EXP added
Lesser200
Intermediate600
Superior1,500
Ultimate3,000
Exalted5,000

Training Arcana come from the coin shop, the battle pass, and attendance rewards, with the Superior tier also appearing in attendance. Because each enhancement step bumps a random skill line, it pays to enhance cards whose rolled lines are all useful to you rather than a card carrying one dead passive.

How you know it worked

After a Transcendence clear, the card appears in your inventory as an equippable Arcana once you open the Odyle Energy Cube; it is not the same as a Training Arcana EXP item. A successful Transmute drops the chosen gold card straight into your bag with the two lines you locked and the rest rolled. On the card itself, each enhancement level shows as a higher item level and a bumped skill line. The practical rule for the whole system is short: spend every weekly Transcendence attempt at the highest stage you can reliably clear, keep cards with skills your build presses, and turn the rest into EXP or crystals.
