In Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Dark Arisen content, the Norgan Sphinx gives the Body Riddle first among her three challenges during the Seeking the Sage main quest. She requests a “token of its being” from a giant unable to feel its own pain, directing you to Norgan’s spot “where repose is easiest found.” The answer is the Mournful Giant’s Tusk, dropped by a specific giant north of the Norgandian Settlement.

Quick answer: Rest until morning at the Norgandian Inn, follow the giant’s roar north through Valgr Ravine to Nival Gorge Collapse, kill the Mournful Giant to claim the Mournful Giant’s Tusk, then present it to the Sphinx at the Shrine of Wisdom.

What you need before you start

The route to the giant runs through a permanent blizzard, so stock cold protection before you leave the village. A high-health giant at the end of the climb means you will want healing in reserve too.

  • Several Heatstones to counter the whiteout on the mountainside.
  • Curatives for a drawn-out fight against a large-health target.
  • The riddle itself, which you receive by speaking with the Sphinx at the Shrine of Wisdom.

Dorin waits at the entrance to Nival Gorge Collapse and hands you two Vitali-Drench and one Regeneration Elixir before the climb, so you do not have to arrive fully topped up on recovery items.

The Seller’s Wares trader menu lists Climbing Hook, Miracle Roborant, Vitalic Drench, Fine Vitalic Drench, Regeneration Elixir and Norgan Ducat, with Vitalic Drench selected at 2000 G.

Step-by-step: solving the Riddle of the Body

Travel to the Norgandian Settlement and speak with Dwayne at the Norgandian Inn. Keep talking to him until his dialogue loops back to talk of the giant, which confirms you are on the right trail.
Choose Rest till Morning at the inn, which costs 0 G. The riddle’s line about greeting the dawn points here, and as you sleep a loud roar sounds. Dwayne wakes you and remarks that the creature is north of the village.

Leave through the northern gate and follow the quest marker to the outskirts. A cutscene plays of the colossal giant walking away. Cross the Valgr Ravine bridge to continue tracking it.
Keep heading toward the mountainside until you reach Nival Gorge Collapse, where you meet Dorin at the cave opening. He is hunting the same giant and will accompany you up the slope.
Climb the snowy cliffs along the outer sides of the gorge. Avalanches roll down the center, so stay to the edges and keep moving to avoid being swept back down.

At the summit you confront the Mournful Giant, a towering furred beast in a perpetual blizzard. It hits hard and has a large health pool, so keep your Heatstones active and pawns healthy.

Rather than chipping away at its health bar, climb onto the giant’s back and body. Several swords are lodged in its hide; hold the interact button on each to use the Draw blade prompt and pull them out. Each removed blade deals heavy damage and staggers it.

Draw your swords and bring the giant’s health to zero, then land the finishing blow. You automatically obtain the Mournful Giant’s Tusk, which weighs 0.50 kg and is described as an oversized tooth taken from an enormous Norgan giant.

Return to the Shrine of Wisdom, fast-travelling with a Ferrystone if you have a Portcrystal placed there. Speak to the Sphinx, choose to answer the Riddle of the Body, and submit the Mournful Giant’s Tusk.

How to confirm the riddle is solved

When the Sphinx accepts the tusk, she delivers dialogue acknowledging the correct item and the Sage’s Wisdom – Riddle of the Body quest completes. One of the stone chests behind her unlocks. Open it to collect the Norgan Portcrystal, which you can place at the Shrine of Wisdom for future fast travel.
