Enshrouded 1.0: How to Unlock the Albaneve Summits and Veilwater Basin Hollow Halls

Both new Hollow Halls need a Bone Key crafted at the Collector, and you have to clear Albaneve first.

Both new Hollow Halls need a Bone Key crafted at the Collector, and you have to clear Albaneve first.

Enshrouded 1.0 adds two more Hollow Halls to Embervale, one in the frozen Albaneve Summits and one in the waterlogged Veilwater Basin. Each is a sealed crypt full of Hollow enemies, and each is locked behind its own Bone Key crafted at the Collector. The two keys come from separate Collector quests, and the Veilwater Basin key needs Icy Giant Bones that drop from enemies inside the Albaneve Summits Hollow Halls.

Quick answer: Craft a Bone Key at the Collector for each hall, then follow the matching Collector quest to its entrance. Clear Albaneve Summits first, because the Veilwater Basin key needs Icy Giant Bones that drop inside the Albaneve halls.

Why Albaneve Summits comes before Veilwater Basin

While you are inside Albaneve, grab every Icy Giant Bones you see. You only need one for the Veilwater key, but spares are useful for other Collector recipes.

Set up the Collector and gather the key materials

Both keys are crafted by the Collector, Alden Crowley, the same survivor who makes the Kindlewastes Bone Key and four Eternal spells. You need the Collector in your base with a sheltered bed. The quest “Collector Needs Shelter” requires a sheltered bed for the Collector; its text says he will be able to craft more once sheltered.

Each key leans heavily on Ectoplasm Gems. You make these at the Collector with 1 Bonemeal, 1 Water, and 2 Ectoplasm of any tier (Fragment, Shard, Crystal, Cluster, or Aggregate) for a single gem. The Albaneve key swallows 20 gems and the Veilwater key 25, so start pressing Ectoplasm early.

  • Giant Bones are dropped by the Hollow Cyclops, which you first encounter in the Revelwood Hollow Halls (see our Giant Bones guide).
  • Silver Bars: smelt 20 Silver Ore and 40 Coal at the Blast Furnace for 20 bars.
  • Gold Bars: smelt 20 Gold Ore (or 20 Archaic Shards) and 40 Coal at the Blast Furnace for 20 bars.
  • Icy Giant Bones: looted from enemies inside the Albaneve Summits Hollow Halls.

Bone Key recipes

Veilwater Basin Bone KeyRare, item level 431 Gold Bars, 25 Ectoplasm Gem, 1 Icy Giant BonesPicking up Ectoplasm Cluster

The key item text tells you what each one does: “Opens doors in the Albaneve Summits Hollow Halls” and “Opens doors in the Veilwater Basin Hollow Halls.” Both also remind you that some chests inside need Ectoplasm to open, so collect extra on your way down and keep a reserve for crafting more keys.

Since 1.0, chests in the Hollow Halls’ final rooms use 25% less Ectoplasm, allowing your carried supply to stretch a little further.

Unlock the Albaneve Summits Hollow Halls

The quest “The Albaneve Summits Hollow Halls” comes from the Collector and runs through three steps.

Craft the Albaneve Summits Hollow Halls Key at the Collector using the recipe above.
Head for the entrance, which the Collector marks for you. It is in the Albaneve Summits, roughly 1,100 m in a straight line (map) from the Cinder’s Cradle – Sky Islands Ancient Spire, toward the south-east. A Flame Shrine is about 600 m away, while the Spooky Tomb is around 250 m to the south.
Descend and reach the end to finish “Master The Albaneve Summits Hollow Halls.” Inside you will fight Summit Spiders, Summit Bats, Summit Spitting Spiders, and the Summit Spider Mama. Completing it pays 350 XP and a Rough Wood Block.

The halls hold 3 pieces of unique loot, 7 Gold Chests, 7 Silver Chests, 51 Wooden Chests, 5 Return Beacons, 14 Grappling Points, and 13 Updrafts. This is where you collect the Icy Giant Bones you need for the Veilwater key, so do not leave without at least one.

Unlock the Veilwater Basin Hollow Halls

The Collector gives the three-step “The Veilwater Basin Hollow Halls” quest.

Craft the Veilwater Basin Hollow Halls Key at the Collector. It costs 1 Gold Bars, 25 Ectoplasm Gem, and 1 Icy Giant Bones.
Travel to the entrance once the Collector reveals it. The hall lies in the Veilwater Basin, east of the Veilwater Basin Ancient Spire, around 1,450 m away in a straight line (map). A Flame Shrine sits roughly 350 m off, the Balefire Tower “1000 Miles” is about 350 m to the north-west, and the Old Hag’s Hut is around 500 m south. Crabs roam the area outside.

Descend and reach the end to complete “Master The Veilwater Hollow Halls.” The quest pays 400 XP and a Rough Wood Block. Keen’s own advice for this hall: “bring your snorkel.”

The boss here is the Hollow Wispwyvern. Its drops include Ectoplasm Aggregate, Icy Giant Bones, the Hollow Wispwyvern Head, and Legendary Runes. The halls also contain 4 pieces of unique loot, 1 puzzle, 6 Gold Chests, 7 Silver Chests, 35 Wooden Chests, 5 Return Beacons, 14 Grappling Points, and 3 Jump Pads. Rooms with glowing orange floor tiles carry the “Master The Veilwater Hollow Halls” objective marker.

Extra quests tied to the new halls

A couple of side objectives also connect to these dungeons. Recommended for level 25, “Hidden Crafting Recipes – Hollow Halls” tasks you with finding crafting recipes throughout the Hollow Halls in each biome.

A note in the Veilwater Basin hall starts “Red Marble Decoration” (level 32) and hints at the hall’s architecture. Continue to the far end of the halls to find the recipe for the Red Marble Arch, earning the Small Red Marble Arc and Red Marble Column.
