Ink of Dreams is a short Wandering Tale set in Wellspring Town, inside the Qingzhou region of Where Winds Meet. It plays out entirely around a single pawnshop, where a scholar is trying to redeem a family painting the owner has quietly taken apart. You listen in, find the stripped artwork, force the shopkeeper to fix it, and hand it back.
Quick answer: Enter Pinemist Pavilion on Huang St, trigger the argument, grab the Unmounted Ancient Painting from the bushes behind the shop, submit it to Huang Shiyu, then return the remounted painting to Zhao Moshu outside.
Where Ink of Dreams starts in Wellspring Town
The quest lives under Exploration → Wandering Tales → Wellspring Town Part 3. Its clue reads: “Inside Pinemist Pavilion, a scholar is in a heated argument with the shopkeeper.” Pinemist Pavilion is the pawnshop on Huang St, in the southern part of Wellspring Town.
Open the map, travel to Wellspring Town, and head toward Pinemist Pavilion. The whole tale takes place in and directly behind this one building, so there is no long travel between objectives.

Enter Pinemist Pavilion and speak with the appraiser Wang Jindou at the counter if you want the background on the pawnshop’s jargon. The important part is the argument playing out between scholar Zhao Moshu and shopkeeper Huang Shiyu over Summer Retreat at Wellspring, a family heirloom whose redemption window closed three days ago.
Exit the shop, then circle around to its outside rear wall. Check the shrubs behind the building and pick up the Unmounted Ancient Painting. Interacting with it brings up a “Wandering Tales – New Clue Acquired” notification.
Go back inside and talk to Huang Shiyu, submitting the unmounted painting. Confronted with the stripped artwork found in his own backyard only three days after the term expired, he agrees to have it remounted and gives you the New Edition: Summer Retreat at Wellspring.
Head out to the stone terrace, where Zhao Moshu is waiting. Talk to him and deliver the restored family painting; the tale ends when the dialogue is over.
Completing the tale grants exploration currency, experience, and coins.
