Every Vehicle Type in Star Wars: Galactic Racer and How Each One Handles

Landspeeders, Speeder Bikes, Skim Speeders, and Podracers compared by speed, durability, handling, and signature move.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer, from Fuse Games and Secret Mode, has four classes of repulsorcraft. They do not share a handling model. Each one brakes, corners, and takes damage in its own way, so a Speeder Bike habit will put a Skim Speeder into a wall. Knowing what each class does well makes the Galactic League much easier to climb.

Quick answer: There are four vehicle types: Landspeeder, Speeder Bike, Skim Speeder, and Podracer. League racing uses the first three. Podracers come through Sebulba’s content, arcade, and multiplayer.

Skim SpeederCorneringLow durability, slower launchKnife Edge

The trade-off is simple. The tougher a vehicle is, the slower it gets. Landspeeders shrug off contact. Speeder Bikes and Podracers win on pace but break after a few hard hits. Skim Speeders sit in the middle and are the best of the four at taking corners.

How each vehicle type handles

Landspeeder

Landspeeders are the first vehicles you race in the campaign, and they are the most forgiving. Speed and handling are average. They are heavy, which means they can bully lighter vehicles and survive more hits than any other class. You can spend fewer upgrade points on resilience unless you plan to fight a lot during events.

The catch is the turning radius. Tight corners need the Drift ability, which swings the tail out. It is easy to overcorrect and clip the wall, and every drift costs speed, so use it only when a corner demands it. Landspeeders also lack the acceleration and top speed of the lighter classes. They take a while to get back to full speed after a hard stop.

Speeder Bike

Speeder Bikes are light and narrow, and they are among the fastest vehicles in the game. Their acceleration makes them very hard to beat off the start line. They pay for it with weak handling and very little armor. A heavy hit from a rival can be fatal, so resilience upgrades matter far more here than on a Landspeeder.

Kinetic Burst is the bike’s version of a drift. When you come out of it, you get a short burst of speed, which helps make up for the poor steering. If you take an early lead, keep it by braking before you enter a turn and getting back on the throttle as soon as you exit.

Skim Speeder

Skim Speeders are a new vehicle class created for this game. Their design takes cues from aircraft. They are agile and corner better than anything else, and once they build momentum they are faster than a Landspeeder. They are slow off the line, though. To reach top speed you need to hold momentum and pick clean racing lines.

Knife Edge tips the craft onto its side for an almost unmatched turning radius. That pose also makes it easy for an aggressive rival to ram you into a wall. In most turns you won’t need it. The Skim Speeder flows through chicanes much like a Podracer but stays steadier. It can take a couple of hits, but a hard ram or repeated contact causes a system malfunction.

Podracer

Podracers have two big engines and the highest top speed in the game. They steer a bit like a Skim Speeder, with slightly better control than a Speeder Bike. But they are about as fragile as a bike. One mistake into a wall can mean a critical system malfunction or a destroyed pod. Landings after jumps need careful braking. Some tracks punish small errors with crashes that drop you behind the whole field.

Avoid copying Sebulba’s dirty tactics in a Podracer. Race the track and let opponents knock each other out.

Where Podracers appear in Star Wars: Galactic Racer

Podracers are rare in the post-Empire setting, so the Galactic League runs on the other three classes. Podracers show up in other parts of the game, mostly through Sebulba.

  • Arcade races and online multiplayer
  • Tales of Podracing events, where you replay Sebulba’s memories
  • Podracer races featuring familiar competitors such as Dud Bolt, Gasgano, Ody Mandrell, and Ben Quadinaros
  • Later in the campaign, after Sebulba lends Shade his backup podracer

Vehicle models and customizable parts by class

In the garage, Landspeeders, Speeder Bikes, and Skim Speeders each have twelve base models. You can mix parts from different models across six slots.

The Edit Livery screen has three tabs: Livery, Color, and Patina. Locked options show the condition needed to unlock them. These include beating named rivals in Head-to-Head Rival races, beating Kestar Bool in the championship race, completing Podracer Challenges and Tales of Podracing events, and reaching Multiplayer Rank milestones up to Rank 100. Once you meet a condition, the cosmetic unlocks and can be selected for that class.
