The Shoebill is the cheapest Candy Corn pet in week three of the Adopt Me! Halloween Event (2026), but you can’t buy it right away. It arrived on October 16 as a limited Uncommon pet. The bird lives behind a hotel door and won’t come out until you quiet the two noisy neighbors next to it. The items that quiet them only come from the Crypt.
Quick answer: Open Crypt coffins until you have three Lost Socks and one Headphones. Then give them to the doors beside Room 7 on the Hotel’s second floor, and buy the Shoebill for 18,000 Candy Corn.
Shoebill unlock requirements
| Requirement | Amount | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Lost Sock | 3 | Random Crypt coffins |
| Headphones | 1 | Random Crypt coffins |
| Crypt Key | 1 per coffin | Task Board, minigames |
| Candy Corn | 18,000 | Event activities |
Neither the Lost Sock nor the Headphones can be traded. Both disappear from your inventory when the event ends. Coffin rewards are random, so four keys is the best case and not what you should plan around. Any coffin that doesn’t hold a quest item pays out 1,000 to 3,000 Candy Corn instead, which goes toward the purchase price.
Crypt Keys come from the daily Halloween tasks on the Task Board, which give four a day if you finish all three tasks and claim the bonus. You can also earn keys by beating the Ghost Gallery boss, getting far enough in Hauntlet 2, and picking one up in Stitches’ Spotlight.

After you have earned three Lost Socks and one Headphones, the Crypt stops dropping them. You can’t farm extra copies, so there’s no need to keep hunting once your count is complete.

How to confirm the Shoebill unlocked
The game confirms the purchase in a few ways, all within a few seconds of each other:
- A “New Pet Discovered!” splash appears with SHOEBILL under it.
- A “Journal Updated!” window marks the Shoebill entry on the Halloween 2026 page.
- Your Halloween 2026 completion count goes up by one.
- A Newborn Shoebill shows up in your pet inventory and can follow you around.
Unlocking the bird also adds it to the hatch pools for the Basic Egg (400 Pet Releaser Tickets) and the Admin Abuse Egg, so you have another way to pick up extra copies. The Shoebill itself is tradable, but its shop listing disappears when the Halloween Event ends on October 31, 2026. After that, trading is the only way to get one. The Neon version glows yellow on its wing tips, tail, beak, and around its eyes, and the Mega Neon cycles those same spots through rainbow colors.
