Roblox’s Halloween crossover between Family Zone and Duck Duck hides 25 costumed ducks around the Family Zone map. Collecting them is the first requirement for the Duck-O-Lantern, a free UGC hat shaped like a glowing jack-o’-lantern with a duck beak. The hat costs 0 Robux and can only be earned through the quest. It stays claimable until November 8, 2026.
Quick answer: Talk to Nerba at the Family Zone spawn and start the Halloween Quest. Then collect all 25 ducks around spawn, the Duck Duck portal, the Trivia area, and the Roblox 101 and Play Together portals.
Start the Halloween Quest with Nerba first
Ducks don’t count until the quest is active. Nerba, the green alien NPC, stands on the spawn platform. Select Start Halloween Quest and click through the prompt, which asks you to search for 25 ducks that traveled to Family Zone from Duck Duck. After that, any duck you walk over is collected, and a quack sound confirms each pickup.
The tasks have to be done in order. Begin in Family Zone, not Duck Duck, or your Duck Duck time may not count toward the hat.
Family Zone duck locations by area
The numbering below follows the usual collection order. The tables group ducks by area, though, so you can clear one part of the map before moving to the next. Three of the ducks numbered last (23, 24 and 25) are right next to spawn. It’s faster to grab them at the start than to walk back for them.

Ducks 23 and 24 stand together, so you collect both in one pass. Duck 25 is in the hub near spawn that holds portals to several games. Walk around to the back of the Better Block portal to find it.

The Halloween Zone sits near the portal to Sesame Street: Magical Bestie Quest. Duck 9 stays hidden until you step behind the curtain.

Duck 21 is the only duck you need to jump for. Climb to the top of the giant screen to get it. The Play Together portal sits left of the Parental Controls Setup screen.
Turn your volume up as you sweep each area. The quack plays the moment a duck registers, so you know right away whether a spot is already cleared.
How to confirm all 25 ducks are collected
Your quest tracker updates as you collect each duck. When you pick up the last one, the game shows a completion message: “Simply Splendiferous. You earned 50 coins for finding all the ducks!” If that message hasn’t appeared, at least one duck is still out there. Recheck the tables above for any area you skipped.
Duck-O-Lantern requirements after the duck hunt
Collecting the ducks is the shorter half of the quest. The rest takes place in Duck Duck, and progress carries over between the two games.
Roblox typically disconnects inactive players after roughly 20 minutes, less than the 30-minute requirement. If you plan to sit through rounds, move your character every few minutes. If you get disconnected, check the tracker before concluding your progress is lost.
Claiming the Duck-O-Lantern on mobile
Some mobile players may not see the claim button even after completing every task. Standing immediately beside the Duck Duck portal inside Family Zone usually makes the button appear. After a successful claim, the Duck-O-Lantern appears in your Roblox inventory and can be equipped. Stock remains unlimited for the event, so anyone who finishes before November 8 gets the hat.
