Bullet Train is a Silver trophy and 50-gamerscore achievement in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. It asks you to get 50 kills while you are standing on train cars during “Hired Gun,” the campaign’s fourth mission, set in Paris with you playing as Dallas. Trains are everywhere in this level. The difficulty comes from staying on them while your squad competes with you for every kill.
Quick answer: Play Hired Gun on Recruit, stay on top of or inside train cars for every fight, and reload the last checkpoint whenever a group of enemies dies without adding to your count.
What counts as a kill for Bullet Train
The full requirement reads “Kill 50 enemies while standing on train cars in ‘Hired Gun’.” The game checks where you are standing when the enemy dies. It does not care where the enemy is. That one rule decides whether a kill counts.
- Flatbeds, open boxcars, and coal or aggregate hopper cars all count.
- Moving and stationary train cars both work. If it sits on the rails, it counts.
- Kills made from the ground, from crates, or from concrete walkways do not count.
- Kills your AI teammates get do not count toward your total.
- The count only runs inside Hired Gun, so you can’t add kills from other missions.

Add to Google Preferences →Best difficulty for Bullet Train: Recruit
Set the campaign to Recruit before you start the mission. Train cars give you very little cover, and you will spend most of the level standing out in the open. Recruit lets you survive that. It also lets you drop enemies faster than Price, Valeria, and the rest of your squad can, and their kill-stealing is the main reason runs fall short.
Players disagree about Regular. Some have unlocked Bullet Train on Regular in a single pass. Others shot everything they saw and still came up short by the final area. Recruit removes that risk, and none of the campaign’s achievements stack a difficulty requirement onto this one.
Hired Gun train car route for 50 kills
Hired Gun has four stretches where you can stand on trains and fight. Use these rough targets to tell whether you’re on pace.
| Area | Where to stand | Target kills |
|---|---|---|
| Opening trainyard | Flatbeds and boxcars | 20–30 by the warehouse |
| Tracks outside maintenance building | Multi-level train car | A handful |
| Maintenance warehouse interior | Coal hopper cars | 10–20 |
| Final turntable yard | Open boxcars on the right | Whatever remains |
Opening trainyard
Start immediately. Climb onto the flatbeds and train cars directly in front of the starting point and shoot enemies across the tracks from up there. Don’t drop to the gravel to chase anyone.

Move down the yard by hopping from one car to the next. Enemies hold the perimeter and the cross-platforms, and your teammates will push ahead and take kills if you’re slow. Shoot fast and keep moving forward along the train tops.

Near the end of the first yard, a helicopter drops troops, and more enemies show up on a high metal catwalk. Stand in a boxcar doorway and pick them off from there. The doorway keeps you on a train car while giving you a clear line to the catwalk.

From here, cross the rooftop shipping containers toward the maintenance depot. Nothing you kill on the containers counts, so just move through.
If you are well under 20 kills at this point, reload the last checkpoint from the pause menu before the next autosave. That resets the enemy groups and gives you another try at the yard.

Tracks outside the maintenance building
Before you head inside, there’s a multi-level train car on the tracks. Climb it, then clear the enemies on the high catwalk to your left and the ones at ground level. A helicopter with an RPG gunner shows up around here, so don’t stand in the open too long while you shoot.

Inside the maintenance warehouse
The warehouse gives you a big burst of kills. Grab grenades and armor plates before you go in. Once you’re inside, jump onto the raised coal hopper cars right away. Guards crowd the factory floor and the side platforms, and the hoppers give you an elevated position to fire down at them. Expect roughly 10 to 20 kills here.

Final turntable yard
The mission ends in a circular rail yard where you have to bring down Graves’ helicopter with a grenade launcher. When you leave the warehouse, get into the open boxcar on your right. Waves of ground troops come at that spot. A grenade launcher or rifle fire works on them.
Wait to destroy the helicopter. As long as it stays up, reinforcements keep coming into the yard. They do stop eventually, so this fight is not a farm. It is your last chance to finish the count. When the helicopter moves and its fire starts reaching you, switch to the next open boxcar and keep shooting.
Don’t count on the final yard to cover a big shortfall. If you arrive well short of 50, reload an earlier checkpoint and pick up more kills in the trainyard or the warehouse.
How to reload a checkpoint to recover missed kills
Bullet Train has no on-screen counter, so you have to keep track of your kills yourself. When teammates take a group or you fight one from the ground, pause and choose Load Last Checkpoint. Do it before the next “CHECKPOINT REACHED” autosave triggers. The enemies in that section respawn and you can fight them again from the trains. If the save goes through first, those kills are lost for that run.
How to confirm Bullet Train unlocked
Bullet Train unlocks mid-mission the moment your 50th train car kill lands. You don’t need to finish Hired Gun. An achievement or trophy notification titled “Bullet Train” appears on screen, and it is marked as unlocked in the Modern Warfare 4 list on your platform. If you reach the end of the mission with no notification, you didn’t get to 50, and you will need to replay Hired Gun and stay on the trains more.
