LOP: Whitefall is a 2D side-scrolling Metroidvania. Nearly everything in it can be broken, including the enemies. Its new gameplay trailer premiered at The MIX Fall Game Showcase 2026. It runs about a minute and a half and uses that time to make one case. In this game, destruction is how you fight, how you move through the world, and how you stay alive.

Quick answer: LOP: Whitefall is a physics-based Metroidvania coming to PC via Steam. Enemies have no health bars and die when their pixels are erased. No release date is confirmed yet.

Enemies in LOP: Whitefall have no health bars

Most action games track damage with a number or a shrinking red bar. LOP: Whitefall drops that entirely. Every enemy is made of pixels, and you kill it by carving those pixels away until nothing is left. The damage shows up on the enemy’s body itself. A robot you have been shooting looks visibly chewed up, not just closer to a hidden zero.

You play as a small figure dressed completely in white, with an oversized hood and a cape. The character fires green energy beams aimed with a crosshair reticle. It can also slice through ice and latch onto targets with a tether. The world uses the same rules as the enemies. Ice blocks, platforms, and ceilings break apart pixel by pixel when hit.

How physics changes each enemy type

Pixel damage has physical effects as well. Where you hit an enemy changes how it moves. That turns each basic enemy into a small physics problem, not just a target.

Some enemies work against the level instead of against you. Spinning energy hazards grind through ice tunnels and destroy the path ahead. Turrets do the opposite and seal routes until you clear them. In both cases, the shape of the level depends on what the enemies, and you, have already broken.

Destructible terrain as route, weapon, and cover

Progression is tied to destruction in the usual Metroidvania way, with one twist. Instead of a locked door waiting for the right key, the barrier is often terrain you can break. The character blasts through ceilings and walls to open new passages. Finding the right structure to break is part of the puzzle.

The terrain can shape combat as well. Break a bridge and it drops onto enemies underneath, making it an attack. It provides cover, too. In one sequence, the character ducks into a V-shaped ice trench as a rolling bomb rolls in from each side. They meet and explode overhead, leaving the player unharmed.

The game’s earlier announcement trailer showed more ways to interact with the world. These include pushing a block of ice into water and riding it as a raft, sliding down jagged ice slopes, and swinging over a chained spiked ball in a cavern. It also showed descending vertical shafts lined with red laser barriers and reaching a flagpole checkpoint. The settings move between frozen outdoor areas under a large moon, industrial scaffolding, and metal catwalks.

LOP: Whitefall boss fights

The trailer shows three bosses. Each one attacks the ground you stand on as much as it attacks you.

Bomb-throwing boss

Reaching this fight means climbing a tower of crumbling ice while dodging bombs on the way up. At the top waits a floating mechanical boss that fires energy beams. It also throws bombs that eat away at your platform, so the arena shrinks the longer the fight goes on.

Saw blade boss

A huge saw blade sits at the center of a stacked arena of floating platforms and keeps shredding them. You can fight back against the damage. Green hourglass nodes scattered across the arena regenerate destroyed terrain when activated. The fight is a loop of dodging, then rebuilding your footing whenever there is an opening.

Vortex boss

The third boss is an orb that pulls floating blocks of terrain toward itself. The blocks form a spinning shield around it while it fires waves of purple energy. Here the destructible world works for the enemy. The pieces of the arena become its armor.

LOP: Whitefall platform and release status

  • Platform: PC via Steam, where the game is open for wishlisting.
  • Release date: not confirmed.
  • Genre: 2D side-scrolling Metroidvania with destructible pixel terrain.
  • HUD: an aiming reticle plus a diamond counter that reaches the thousands. The diamonds’ purpose has not been explained.

Many games promise destructible environments, but few build the enemies themselves out of the same breakable material. That idea runs through all of LOP: Whitefall, from basic enemies to boss arenas. Wishlisting the game on Steam is currently the way to get notified once a launch date is announced.
