Nate’s Blade already does a lot on its own in Fisch. It adds +100% fish weight and +50% progress speed, slashes fish for extra progress, and starts with zero Control that builds up during each catch. The right enchant depends on what you’re farming, and some enchants need relics you may not have yet.

Quick answer: Run Anomalous + Tryhard for everyday grinding, Greed + Sea Prince for heavy mutation-bait catches, and Starforged Spirit with Sanctified and Crested if you can use the Sovereign Ritual.

Nate’s Blade enchant setups by goal

Every setup below has a main pick and a fallback. The fallback is for players who don’t have the relic the main pick requires.

Grinding setup: Anomalous and Tryhard

For normal farming, put Anomalous in the primary slot and Tryhard in the secondary slot. Anomalous gives each catch a 20% chance to produce a duplicate fish with the Anomalous mutation, so roughly one catch in five pays out twice. Tryhard adds 30% progress speed, which shortens every reel. The cost is a small drop in Control.

That Control penalty matters less on Nate’s Blade than on most rods. The blade gains +0.045 Control every 0.6 seconds while you reel, so the bar keeps widening during the fight no matter which enchant is on it.

Anomalous requires an Exalted Relic. If you don’t have one, use Abyssal. It gives caught fish a 20% chance to be Abyssal. Those fish also have a chance to come out larger, with a low chance to come out noticeably smaller.

Heavy fish setup: Greed and Sea Prince

To push weight as high as possible, put Greed in the first slot and Sea Prince in the second. This setup is meant for mutation baits, where each heavy, high-value fish is worth the extra effort. It also adds to the blade’s built-in +100% weight bonus.

Sea Prince requires a Twisted Relic. Without one, use Sea Overlord or Sea King. Sea King makes fish 30% bigger, which still adds to the blade’s weight passive.

Keeper-bound build: Starforged Spirit with Sanctified and Crested

This is the most advanced option. You get three effects on one rod, but only one of them uses a normal enchant slot. The other two are affixes added through the Sovereign Ritual.

  • Starforged Spirit (base enchant): adds fish weight, Resilience, and forced progress speed.
  • Sanctified (affix): increases progress speed, including true progress speed.
  • Crested (affix): slows fish movement during the reeling minigame, so they’re easier to control.

Start by rolling Starforged Spirit for the rod’s regular enchant. Next, use the Sovereign Ritual to roll for the Sanctified and Crested affix bonuses. Crested suits the blade’s zero starting Control, since slower fish are easier to keep within the narrow bar early on.

Scrapper for expensive mutation baits

If most of your sessions use rare or costly mutation baits, Scrapper is the practical choice. It gives a 60% chance that a catch won’t use up your bait and adds +25% Bait Effectiveness. You give up the profit or weight bonuses of the other setups, and in return your bait supply lasts much longer.

Rolling an enchant on Nate’s Blade at the Altar

Hold the relic for the enchant you want, such as an Exalted Relic for Anomalous, and interact with the Altar. The Altar opens with a “The Keepers Await” prompt.
Check that the prompt says “You are about to enchant your Nate’s Blade.” If you are holding a Spear or Harpoon Gun when you interact with the Altar, that item gets enchanted instead.

Select “Enchant Fishing Rod!” and then press “Confirm” to spend the relic. Press “Cancel” if the wrong item is selected.

Read the enchantment card that appears after the roll. It shows the enchant’s name and effect, such as Scrapper’s “60% chance to not consume Bait, +25% Bait Effectiveness.” If it isn’t the enchant you wanted, roll again with another relic.

To confirm the roll worked, open the Fishing Rods tab in your inventory and select Nate’s Blade. The enchant you rolled should appear on the rod. For the Keeper-bound build, check that Starforged Spirit shows as the base enchant before you start the Sovereign Ritual. That way you don’t add affixes on top of the wrong enchant.
