Saros Zenith Update Adds Slow Game Speed and Eclipse Layers New Game+

Saros, Housemarque’s PS5 shooter, got its Zenith update on October 19th. It pulls in two directions at once. New settings make the game easier to approach, and a New Game+ mode, a boss rush, and a new set of Trial Modifiers make it harder for players who have already finished it. The update is free for everyone who owns Saros.

Quick answer: Update Saros to version 2.0. The new assist options are in Settings. Overlord Rush is at the Primary Unit in Passage. Eclipse Layers unlock after you clear the game.

Saros Zenith accessibility settings

Housemarque did not cut down the number of bullets on screen. It added a way to slow the whole game down. Slow Game Speed affects everything at once, including Arjun, enemies, and projectiles. You pick how much the game slows, and you choose whether it turns on automatically in combat or only when you toggle it yourself. Enemy attacks stay the same. You just get more time to read the telegraph and decide whether to jump, dash, shield, or parry.

SettingWhat it does
Slow Game SpeedSlows the whole game by an amount you choose
Weapon Auto-fireFires the Main and/or Power weapon when aimed at a hostile
Motion Sensor AimingUses DualSense motion sensors to aim and move the camera
High Contrast DisplayGives Arjun and hostiles a solid color fill and/or an outline

Auto-fire suits players who find it difficult to keep a trigger held for extended periods, freeing another finger for dodging. It won’t reload automatically; getting a perfect reload means pressing the button at the right moment. These settings are all optional and work with the existing button remapping.

New Carcosan Modifiers: 10 Protections and 10 Trials

Zenith adds 20 new Carcosan Modifiers, split evenly between the two types. Half are available on your first playthrough. The other half unlock in Eclipse Layers. Protections make runs more forgiving, and Trials make them harder.

TypeNew in ZenithExample
Protection10Corruption Melee Enhancement
Trial10Hostile Regeneration

Corruption Melee Enhancement turns one of the game’s worst threats into a weapon. Corruption normally builds up on Arjun’s armor when certain projectiles hit him, and it eats into max Integrity. With this Protection on, landing a melee strike uses up that Corruption and turns it into one heavy hit.

Hostile Regeneration works the other way. Gunfire can stun larger enemies, but they recover quickly. Only a melee strike finishes them, so you have to close the distance fast.

Modifiers now also track Mastery. Defeating enemies with a modifier equipped builds progress toward it, and once you have enough, the game marks that modifier as Mastered.

How to unlock Eclipse Layers (Saros New Game+)

Eclipse Layers is the Zenith New Game+ mode. Each layer is a more intense version of Saros with changed rules, and you can only reach it after you finish the main game.

Clear Saros. That triggers the unlock, and new nodes then appear in the Armor Matrix back at Passage.
Use those new Armor Matrix nodes to open the gate to the next Eclipse Layer.
Pick a Carcosan Modifier loadout. Each layer has a modifier threshold you must meet before the run starts, and it rises with every layer. Meeting it takes several Trial Modifiers, but which ones you use is your choice.

There are 25 Trials to build that loadout from. Some of them combine with each other in ways that hit much harder than either one alone, so stacking them carelessly can backfire.

Arjun’s Crown, golden armor, and the 12 Visions

From Eclipse Layer 2 onward, Arjun wears a sun-like Crown and his armor glows gold. You can tell it’s working as soon as the run loads. The Crown gets bigger and brighter as your Carcosan Modifier balance goes up, so it shows at a glance how many Trials you’re running.

The Crown also controls a new collectible. Visions of a King are murals and carved messages left by an old Yellow King, and they are spread across Carcosa in the later Eclipse Layers. There are 12 Visions in total. Reading their extra story text needs higher Crown levels, so you’ll need to carry more Trials to see all of it.

Overlord Rush boss rush sets

Overlord Rush is a timed boss rush set inside a training simulation. You start it from the Primary Unit in Passage. It splits the main game’s Overlords into Sets, and your times go on a leaderboard against friends and players worldwide.

SetOverlordsLength
Incursion3About 10 minutes
Ascension3About 10 minutes
TotalityAll 8One continuous gauntlet

Global leaderboards can be filtered by Main Weapon, so you can chase the top spot with a single gun even if you’re nowhere near first overall.

The leaderboards need an internet connection and a PlayStation account.

Other Saros 2.0 changes: trophies, Photo Mode, and balance

  • Six additional trophies are earned in Overlord Rush, Eclipse Layers, and through some of the new modifiers.
  • Photo Mode can now change Arjun’s facial expression.
  • Photo Mode can now show or hide Power Weapon visuals on Arjun’s body.
  • New Artifact Corruption Effects, a higher max Artifact tier, and reworked drop conditions for each tier.
  • Locked yellow containers can now drop higher-tier Artifacts.
  • The amount of Growth Attributes Artifacts give has been adjusted.

Several existing modifiers were also changed. Second Chance Overlord, Overlord Restoration, and Alpha Hostile Enhancement have new costs. Damage Enhancement, Corruption Reduction, and Damage Degradation have new damage values.

Saros launched on PS5 on April 30th, 2026, and Zenith is its largest post-launch patch so far. If you don’t own the game yet, it’s on the Saros PlayStation Store page, and the Zenith content comes with it at no extra cost.
