Arcana Transmute in AION 2 lets you craft a Unique Arcana card instead of waiting for one to drop in Transcendence. You choose the slot and the set, and you can also lock in some of its skill effects. Transmuting is expensive, though, and the materials come slowly, so the right moment to start matters as much as the card you pick.
Quick answer: Yes, but craft one Chalice early and save repeated transmutes for when you can clear Transcendence stage III or higher. Those stages drop Unique cards you can extract for crystals.

Arcana Transmute cost and rules
Each transmute produces one Unique card, which is the top Arcana grade. You pick the slot (Chalice, Parchment, Compass, Bell or Mirror) and the set (Vigor or Magic). The card’s other properties follow from its grade.
| Transmute detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Base cost | 5 Mysterious Crystals + 2,000,000 Kina |
| Result | One Unique card, item level 80 |
| Chosen skill effects | Up to 2, each adds crystals and Kina |
| Remaining skill effects | Random |
| Cooldown | 7 days |
| Season rule | Can reset or change each new season |
A Unique card carries 20 points of its Empyrean Lord stat, four skill levels and can be enhanced to +5. Even if you lock two skill effects, the other two still roll at random. Locking skills cuts down the luck involved, but it does not remove it. The jump in crystal and Kina cost for each locked skill is the main reason transmuting adds up fast.
Transmute can reset or change when a new season starts. Do not stockpile crystals expecting today’s recipe to still be there later.

Transmuting pays off most when farming a specific card would take far longer than crafting it. The Chalice is the clearest case. It rolls its skill effects from all 22 of your class skills. A Parchment or Compass rolls from 6 active skills, and a Bell or Mirror rolls from 5 passives. Each skill in a pool is equally likely, so a Chalice that lands your main damage skill is much harder to get from drops than any other slot.
The Chalice is also slow to drop. A Rare Arcana: Chalice of Vigor drops from Atiel and Talisra of the Void at 11.2% on their level 64 and 68 versions, and 7.5% at level 60. Nazmun, Gelcos, Siliator of Deceit and Ruthilis of Pain only drop it at 3.8%. A Unique Chalice also needs the hardest Transcendence stage. Crafting your first Chalice is the most efficient use of a transmute.

Going beyond that first craft is another matter. Each extra card costs another 2,000,000 Kina and at least five crystals, and the seven-day cooldown limits you to one craft per week anyway. Repeated transmutes make sense once your gear can clear Transcendence stage III or IV consistently. At that point, Unique drops come in steadily, and the spare ones feed the crystal supply.
- Transmute now: your first Chalice, using crystals from season rewards and early extractions.
- Wait: extra cards for Parchment, Compass, Bell and Mirror, whose smaller skill pools are easier to farm.
- Skip: any card for a set or slot you have not settled on for your build.
Transcendence stages and Arcana grades
In Transcendence mode, Arcana can be earned in either of two party dungeons. Deus Research Base awards cards for Chalice, Compass, and Bell; Shattered Arkanis awards cards for Chalice, Parchment, and Mirror. Each dungeon has four stages, and every stage has its own gear score requirement.
| Stage | Required gear score | Top Arcana grade |
|---|---|---|
| I | 1600 | Rare |
| II | 1900 | Below Unique |
| III | 2200 | Unique (no Chalice) |
| IV | 2500 | Unique, including Chalice |
The 2,200 gear score needed for stage III is the practical point where repeated transmutes start to make sense. Below it, your drops are lower grades that are better spent as enhancement material or extraction filler.
Where to get Mysterious Crystals
The Mysterious Crystal (Bound) is a Common misc item that stacks to 1,000 and cannot be traded. Your first five crystals usually come from a mix of these sources:
- Extract tab in the Arcana menu: break down unused cards until the progress bar reaches 100% for one crystal.
- Season Shop, Growth tab: 25,000 coins per crystal, limited to 5 per character.
- Season Missions, Challenge tab: trial score achievements from 1,000 to 6,000 points award crystals.
- Season Shop Arcana: buy cards with season currency and extract them.

Enhanced cards keep their stored EXP when extracted, so a leveled card you outgrow fills the crystal bar faster than a fresh one.
How to transmute a Unique Arcana
The craft worked when the new card appears in the Equip tab as a Unique card at item level 80, with your chosen skill effects listed. Your combat power rises as soon as you equip it, and the seven-day cooldown starts.
Enhancing a transmuted Arcana to +5
A transmuted Unique card starts at +0 and needs 93,000 Enhance EXP to reach +5. Enhancement never fails, but each level raises a random skill effect on the card. Feed it duplicate cards from Transcendence or Training Arcana, which require level 45 and cannot be traded.
| Training Arcana | Enhance EXP | Oath Coin price |
|---|---|---|
| Lesser | 200 | 1,500 |
| Intermediate | 600 | 4,500 |
| Superior | 1,500 | 11,300 |
| Ultimate | 3,000 | Not sold |
| Exalted | 5,000 | Not sold |

Lesser, Intermediate and Superior Training Arcana also come from the battle pass, and Superior shows up in attendance rewards. Since enhancement keeps adding levels to whatever skills the card already has, a transmuted card with your key skills locked in is the safest place to put that EXP. Starting with a Chalice and enhancing it is where most of your crystals and Kina will pay off first.
