The Barbarian in Enshrouded 1.0 is a two-handed melee build. You jump into a pack, swing a Greatsword or hammer, and heal through critical hits and Health Leech while you take damage. The 1.0 release on October 15th reset every skill tree and raised the level cap to 50. Your character also has a pool of 212 skill points: 98 from leveling, 60 from Shroud Roots, and 54 from 18 Elixir Wells. That leaves room to take the full Barbarian core and still borrow mobility from other parts of the tree.

Quick answer: Build around Crash Down Attack and Crash Down: Force, with Whirlwind Crescendo; choose either Barbarian’s Path or Titan Edge alongside Two-Handed Specialization, and add Evasion Attack plus Blink. Pair this setup with Manathor’s Greatsword or Battering Ram Hammer, and equip Health Leech rings.

Barbarian skill tree path in Enshrouded 1.0

Enshrouded has no fixed classes. The Barbarian is a section of the Warrior area of the single 1.0 skill tree, and the build reaches into the Athlete, Tank, and Battlemage sections for movement. These are the nodes the build runs on.

SkillCostEffect
Two-Handed Specialization3Unlocks two-handed Special Abilities (Focus)
Barbarian’s Path1 per rank (3 ranks)+5% per rank to 2H Axes, Clubs, Hammers
Titan Edge1 per rank (3 ranks)+5% per rank to 2H Greatswords
Crash Down Attack3Jump slam: weapon damage increased by 50%
Crash Down: Force3+20% Crash Down damage from a double jump
Whirlwind Crescendo3Finish an attack chain with a whirl attack; costs 75 Stamina
Evasion Attack4Dash attack out of a dodge, 25 Stamina
Blink4Dodge roll becomes a teleport, 20 Stamina
Barbarian5+1 Strength per two Flame levels

Start with Two-Handed Specialization. Without it, your weapon can’t spend Focus on its Special Ability, and that ability is a large part of a two-hander’s burst. Next comes the damage passive that matches your weapon. Then move into the Athlete section for Crash Down Attack and Crash Down: Force. Together they turn a double jump into an area slam, and it is the fastest way to hit a whole group at once.

Whirlwind Crescendo finishes the Barbarian section. It adds a spinning hit to the end of your normal attack chain. Its 75 Stamina cost is steep, so time it for when you are already surrounded. Evasion Attack in the Tank section and Blink in the Battlemage section handle the gaps. You dodge or teleport out of a hit and come straight back in with a damage bonus.

The Barbarian attribute node costs 5 points and gives Strength that grows with your Flame level. Strength drives melee damage, and it also raises the Athlete skill’s health bonus, which scales with your Strength.

Optional nodes worth the points

  • Battle Heal: melee critical strikes heal a share of your maximum Health.
  • Veteran: two-handed weapons have a higher critical strike chance, which supports Battle Heal.
  • Relentless (5 points): a two-handed crit adds 8% crit chance to your next hit.
  • Heavy Hitter (4 points): two-handed attack speed up 10%.
  • Blood Rage: a nearby melee kill raises melee damage 15% for 10 seconds.
  • Double Jump (Core, 2 points): you need it for Crash Down: Force to work.

Greatsword vs. hammer: which damage nodes to take

Choose passives that fit your weapon. Barbarian’s Path strengthens Hammers, Two-Handed Axes, and Clubs, but provides no benefit with a Greatsword; use Titan Edge for Greatswords instead. Damage nodes are also weapon-specific: Brute increases melee Blunt damage, while Slasher increases melee Cutting damage.

Armor can push these past their normal three ranks. Several Greatsword-focused pieces add Titan Edge levels directly, so a Greatsword Barbarian gets more out of the gear covered below than a hammer user does.

Best Barbarian weapons: Manathor’s Greatsword and Battering Ram Hammer

Both weapons are Legendary Warrior two-handers that scale from item level 1 to 55. Their base damage curves are identical, so your choice comes down to damage type and perks.

StatManathor’s GreatswordBattering Ram Hammer
Damage (Lv 1 / 25 / 50 / 55)16 / 70 / 127 / 13816 / 70 / 127 / 138

Manathor’s Greatsword carries the crit chance perk. That matters for a build that heals through Battle Heal, because every extra crit is an extra heal. It also pairs with Titan Edge and with the Titan Edge levels on Greatsword armor.

Battering Ram Hammer brings its own 3% Health Leech, so it sustains you even before your rings come into play. It runs on Barbarian’s Path, Brute, and Bash. Carry both weapons and swap based on whether an enemy is weaker to Cutting or Blunt damage.

Keep a bow in your ranged slot. Some puzzles require you to shoot switches, and a melee-only loadout can’t reach them.

Barbarian armor and rings

Any armor that adds melee or two-handed damage fits the build. For a Greatsword setup, two pieces stack Titan Edge levels on top of your skill ranks.

Greatsword Gauntlets

The Legendary Greatsword Gauntlets come from Goldrock Saddle in Veilwater Basin. Besides the Greatsword damage, they add 12 Stamina Regeneration, 18% damage against Flying enemies, and one level each of Athlete and Vigorous Deflection. Armor is 31 Physical, 19 Magical, and 19 Piercing.

Vorgoth’s Soulbound Boots

These Legendary boots belong to the Vorgoth’s Soulbound Set from Cinder’s Cradle. The recipe unlocks when you pick up Vorgoth’s Bound Essence. You then craft them at the Ancient Researcher, under a roof. Alongside two levels of Titan Edge, they give two levels each of Slasher, Athlete, and Vigorous Deflection, 21 Health Regeneration, and a -500 Health Regeneration Delay. Armor is 63 Physical and 35 Magical, with Frost Resistance 2 and a 90-second Wet Duration Reduction.

Emberguard pieces and Gemini Rings

The Emberguard set also drops in Cinder’s Cradle and fills the remaining slots. It gives flat melee damage, melee critical strike chance, and extra health. The Emberguard Helmet adds a level of Barbarian’s Path, and the Emberguard Pants add Athlete and Titan Edge levels. For rings, wear two Gemini Rings. Both carry Health Leech, and that leech is what makes the build’s sustain work.

How the Barbarian heals in combat

Healing comes from three places. Battle Heal returns a share of your maximum Health on every melee crit. Health Leech from your rings (and from the Battering Ram Hammer) heals you as you deal damage. Health Regeneration on your armor fills the gaps between fights. More maximum Health makes every Battle Heal proc bigger, which is why Athlete, Constitution, and the Emberguard health stats matter. More crit chance makes those procs happen more often.

For a practical opener, use Crash Down off a double jump to strike the entire group. Follow with a chain of attacks into Whirlwind Crescendo; if a heavy blow is imminent, dodge into Evasion Attack or Blink. Health lasts longer than Stamina, making the Greatsword Gauntlets’ Stamina Regeneration and the Stamina gained from parrying with Vigorous Deflection especially useful.

Respeccing into the Barbarian

Every character’s skill tree was reset when 1.0 launched, and all points were refunded, so returning players can spend them on this build right away. If you want to change course later, you can reset at a Flame Altar. Each spent skill point costs 1 rune to refund. Switching between a Greatsword build and a hammer build is cheap, because you only move a handful of passive ranks between Titan Edge, Barbarian’s Path, Slasher, and Brute.

The Skills tree in Enshrouded shows the central ring of unlockable skills surrounded by the Survivor, Beastmaster, Ranger, Assassin, Athlete, Barbarian, Warrior, Guardian, Battlemage, Healer, Wizard and Trickster branches, with 7 skill points available.

Once your weapon passive is maxed, Crash Down: Force and Whirlwind Crescendo are unlocked, and two Gemini Rings are on, the build is complete. From there, the remaining points go into Strength, Constitution, and the crit nodes that keep Battle Heal firing.
