The Haunted Egg is a Mythical egg that arrived in Grow a Garden with the first part of the Halloween Event 2026 on October 17th. It holds four Halloween-themed pets. The rarest is the Prismatic Haunted Knight, which has a 0.5 percent chance to hatch. You can get the egg in two ways, and neither one is guaranteed on the first try.

Quick answer: Place Halloween fruits in the Witches Brew cauldron for a 16.67 percent chance of getting the egg, or spend 1,500 Candy Corn at the Frightening Fauna Shop if it’s in stock.

The shop is the only sure way to get the egg itself. Whether you can use it depends on stock. If the Haunted Egg isn’t listed, you can wait for it to come back or keep working the cauldron in the meantime. The two methods don’t block each other, so most players will use both.

How to earn the Haunted Egg from Witches Brew

Travel to the Halloween event island. The Witches Brew cauldron is there, and it’s where every contribution goes.
Put Halloween fruits, or any fruit with a Halloween mutation, into the cauldron. Higher-tier fruits give more points, so your best fruit fills the cauldron fastest.
Wait for the cauldron to fill. Every player who contributed to that fill gets a chance at the Witches Brew rewards. The Haunted Egg is one of the possible rewards.
Wait out the two-minute cooldown, then contribute again. Each completed fill gives you another roll.

With a 16.67 percent drop chance, you’ll get the egg about once every six cycles on average. Short streaks with no egg are normal. When it drops, the Haunted Egg shows up in your Witches Brew rewards.

Haunted Egg pets, hatch chances, and rarities

Place the egg in your garden and it takes four hours to hatch. When the timer ends, you get one of these four pets.

Lantern WispLegendary35%Whim-of-the-Wisp
GargoyleMythical9.5%Stone Form
Haunted KnightPrismatic0.5%Reins of Destruction

Skull Snail is the most likely result, and it’s the only pet in the egg with two abilities. Skull and Bones raises the chance that harvested plants drop seeds. Cranial Luck gives Lucky Harvests a chance to push the harvested plant’s growth forward by two hours.

Lantern Wisp needs a Wisp Well in your garden to work. With the Well in place, your pets earn bonus XP per second for each Halloween cosmetic in your garden. The more Halloween decorations you have, the more XP they get.

Gargoyle sometimes lands and turns to stone. When it does, it either moves nearby pets’ cooldowns forward or gives those pets XP.

Haunted Knight is the long shot. You’ll hatch it about once every 200 eggs on average. Its ability only matters if you own Nightmare pets, as explained below.

Buying the egg from the Frightening Fauna Shop doesn’t improve these odds. A purchased egg uses the same 0.5 percent Haunted Knight chance as one from the cauldron.

Haunted Knight’s Reins of Destruction ability

Reins of Destruction is a passive ability, so it runs on a timer without any input from you. Here’s how it works:

  • It triggers about every 40 minutes and 44 seconds.
  • It selects one random Nightmare pet at age 300.
  • The target’s age drops back to 31.
  • The target gets the Haunted mutation.
  • There’s a 2 percent chance it applies Everhaunted instead.

That’s a real tradeoff. You get a rare mutation on a Nightmare pet, but the pet loses 269 levels of age in the process. Without any age-300 Nightmare pets, the Knight’s ability has nothing to target. For most players, though, the 0.5 percent hatch chance will be a bigger obstacle than the age reset.
