Gothic 1 Remake: How to Find Syra for the Double, Double Quest

Her exact kitchen spot inside the Old Camp, the invisible wall workaround, and when to grab Snaf’s recipe.

Syra is a slave bound to the Ore Barons inside the Old Camp’s castle in Gothic 1 Remake. She cleans the floors, dances for Gomez, and is forbidden from talking to the Nameless Hero, so the game shushes you if you approach her openly. Players hunting for her during the Double, Double quest usually get stuck on two things, finding her kitchen and pushing past an invisible wall in the courtyard.

Quick answer: Enter the Old Camp castle after gaining approval from Diego and Thorus, head to the right side of the courtyard where the swordsmen train, and take the door at the far end to the left of the practice area entrance, just past Thorus. That door is Syra’s kitchen.

Castle access requirements before you reach Syra

You cannot wander into the castle freely. You first need clearance from Diego and then Thorus, who controls the inner gate. Once they wave you through, the courtyard and the buildings around it open up, and the path to Syra becomes accessible.

Where to find Syra in the Old Camp

Syra stays inside the Old Camp at all times. There are two reliable ways to reach her kitchen once you are inside the castle grounds.

Route 1: Move to the right side of the courtyard where you see guards practicing with swords. Walk past Thorus toward the practice area, then take the door at the very end, sitting to the left of that area’s entrance. That door leads into Syra’s kitchen.

Route 2: Follow the castle wall a short distance until you spot a ladder on your left. Climb down toward the dungeon, and the kitchen sits on the right side at the bottom. Both paths land you in the same room.

Note: Syra is not always standing inside the kitchen. She sometimes sits on the bench right in front of the door, so check there if the room looks empty. She keeps near the training grounds and the dungeon ladder rather than next to Gomez.

Fix the invisible wall blocking the path to Syra

A known bug places an invisible wall in the castle courtyard that stops players from reaching Syra. The barrier is inconsistent, which makes it possible to get around.

Move along the left side of the blocked spot. The wall usually has a gap on the left edge, so hugging that side lets you slip past it.
If you still cannot get through, leave and return at a different in-game time. The barrier disappears at random, so changing the time of day often clears it on its own.

How to get Snaf’s recipe for the Double, Double quest

The Double, Double quest runs during Chapter 2 and sends you to collect Snaf’s recipe, which is stored inside Syra’s kitchen. Once you are in the room using either route above, the recipe is there to pick up.

Warning: Do not grab the recipe before Snaf actually hands you the quest. Taking it early breaks the quest and leaves you unable to complete it. Wait for Snaf to give you the task, then return for the recipe.

You will know it worked when the quest log updates after you take the recipe with the task already active. If your log does not advance, the most common cause is picking up the recipe too soon, before Snaf assigned the quest.

With castle access sorted, the kitchen pinpointed, and the invisible wall handled, Syra is straightforward to reach, and the only real risk to Double, Double is timing the recipe pickup after Snaf gives you the quest rather than before.
