Peakychu in Pokémon Pokopia: Where to Find the Ghostly Pikachu

Unlock Bleak Beach, push through its story quests, and trigger the cutscene that introduces the pale Pikachu.

Unlock Bleak Beach, push through its story quests, and trigger the cutscene that introduces the pale Pikachu.

Peakychu is a Pokopia-exclusive take on Pikachu, a pale, almost ghost-like version of the series mascot. You cannot summon it by building a habitat. Meeting it is tied to story progress, so you need to reach a specific point in the game before it appears in the world.

Quick answer: Raise your Trainer Rank to Great to open Bleak Beach, then complete that area’s story quests until Meowth points out someone lying on the ground. Run to that spot to trigger the Peakychu cutscene.

Requirements before Peakychu appears

The encounter sits behind two gates. First, you have to finish the opening important request in Withered Wastelands. Second, your Trainer Rank needs to climb to Great, which is what opens the next set of areas.

How to trigger the Peakychu encounter in Bleak Beach

Inside Bleak Beach, the story missions revolve around brightening the town. Working through them is what eventually spawns Peakychu, so keep pushing the main quests rather than wandering off.

Travel to Bleak Beach after unlocking it and begin the area’s story quests focused on bringing color back to the town.
Continue through those missions, including your first meeting with Mosslax. This progress is required before the next event can fire.
Keep going until dialogue plays in which Meowth mentions spotting someone lying on the ground in another part of Bleak Beach. That line is the signal that Peakychu has spawned.
Run over to the spot Meowth pointed out. A cutscene plays, introducing you to the ghostly electric mouse.

How to confirm it worked

You will know the trigger has fired when Meowth’s dialogue calls out a figure on the ground. Reaching that location starts the cutscene, which is the confirmation that you have met Peakychu. If the cutscene has not played, the encounter has not spawned yet.

The single reason it fails to appear is incomplete story progress. Peakychu will not show up until you clear the Bleak Beach missions leading up to the Meowth dialogue, so finish those before expecting it in the world.

Reuniting Peakychu with Pichu

After the introduction, a follow-up task has you helping Peakychu find its family. Once Pichu turns up at the relevant habitat, ask it to follow you to Bleak Beach and bring it to Peakychu to complete the reunion.

Peakychu is classed as a Rare Electric-type Mouse Pokémon and can appear across several regions later, including Withered Wastelands, Bleak Beach, Rocky Ridges, Sparkling Skylands, Palette Town, and Cloud Island. Its Illuminate specialty makes it suited to Bright, Illuminate-style habitats once you have it.
