Basic Pot in Grow A Garden 2: What It Does and How to Get It

The Epic gear lets you plant a single crop anywhere on the map, well beyond your normal plot tiles.

The Epic gear lets you plant a single crop anywhere on the map, well beyond your normal plot tiles.

The Basic Pot is an Epic-rarity gear in Grow A Garden 2 that breaks one of the game’s core limits. Instead of being stuck planting on your assigned plot tiles, you can drop the pot down almost anywhere in the world and grow a crop there. It is the only tool that makes off-plot farming possible.

Quick answer: Place the Basic Pot anywhere on the map, plant one seed inside it, then water and harvest it exactly like a normal plot tile. Each pot acts as a single, freely placed crop slot.

What the Basic Pot does

The pot works as a portable, single crop tile. Once you set it down, it behaves like any ordinary tile on your plot. You plant a seed in it, water it through its growth cycle, and harvest the crop when it is ready.

The difference is placement. Normal growing is locked to the tiles inside your main plot, but the Basic Pot can be positioned in spots outside that area. That makes it the only current way to grow crops beyond standard plot tiles. Visually, it is a pinkish-red ceramic plant pot mostly filled with dirt.

How to get the Basic Pot

The Basic Pot is sold through the Gear Shop, run by George. It is not always in stock, so you may need to wait for the right rotation before it appears.

How to use the Basic Pot

Buy the Basic Pot from George’s Gear Shop when it appears in the rotation. Because the appearance chance is only 7%, check back across multiple restocks if it isn’t listed.
Take the pot from your inventory and place it in the world. You can set it down outside your main plot, which is the whole point of the gear.
Plant a single seed inside the placed pot. It holds one crop, so treat it like one extra tile rather than a full garden.
Water the crop and let it grow, then harvest it once it matures. The watering and harvesting work the same way they do on regular plot tiles.

You’ll know it worked when the seed roots in the pot and progresses through its growth stages, just as a crop on a normal tile would. If a crop never starts growing, confirm the pot is fully placed and that you actually planted a seed inside it rather than on the ground next to it.

At 300,000 Sheckles, the Basic Pot is a steep purchase, but it is the one piece of gear that lets you farm outside your plot’s borders. If you want crops growing in spots the normal grid won’t allow, this is the tool that makes it happen.
