How to Beat Securis in VV: ULTIMATUM (Quincy Schrift Unlock)

Beat the Arctic Plains boss solo at Lv65+ to unlock the Quincy Schrift line and Letzt Stil.

Beat the Arctic Plains boss solo at Lv65+ to unlock the Quincy Schrift line and Letzt Stil.

Securis, also called The Reaver, is the five-star boss in the Arctic Plains that stands between Quincy players and their Schrift abilities. He is one of the hardest mandatory fights in VV: ULTIMATUM, and most players need 20 or more attempts before they win. The fight is solo only, so plan for a long session.

Quick answer: Reach Lv65 (ideally close to Lv70), build for Reserves over Potency, fight Securis solo, dodge his ice AoE and lunges, punish after his 3–5 hit axe combos, and activate Letzt Stil at critical HP to restore full health. Clearing him unlocks the Quincy Schrift line and grants 5 free Schrift rerolls.

Securis requirements and fight rules

Securis is an advanced boss tied directly to Quincy progression. Defeating him is the only way to unlock the Schrift ability line, so it cannot be skipped if you play Quincy. Before you enter the arena, confirm the basics below.

Pre-fight preparation

Survival comes first against Securis. Prioritize Reserves over Potency and look for equipment that adds Max Health and Posture Regen. Raw damage will not save you if a single ice slam takes you out.

  • Carry as many healing consumables as you can hold, since you will burn through them across many attempts.
  • Save Reiatsu for Flash Step (Q). Do not spam it, or you will have nothing left for the gap closer and ice AoE.
  • Spend your first few tries watching his patterns instead of trying to win immediately.

Securis attack patterns

Securis cycles through three core attacks with his massive axe. Learning to read them is more important than out-damaging him.

AttackHow to handle it
Fast axe combos (3–5 hits)Wide arcs that catch sidesteps. Block with M2 and parry the timing to open him up.
AoE ice attacksHe slams the axe overhead, then sends ice shards in a cone or circle. Flash Step (Q) out of the zone.
Gap-closing lungesA fast dash strike that punishes ranged play. Dodge sideways when he lowers his stance.
Red attacksUnblockable. Dodge them or use counter (F).

How to beat Securis

Hold mid-range throughout the fight. Stay close enough to punish his recovery, but far enough back to react. Standing too far invites the lunge, while standing too close lets the axe combos overwhelm you.
Count his swings. Securis always pauses briefly after a full 3–5 hit combo string. Attack during that recovery window, then back off before he resets.
Dodge the gap closer on its tell. The lunge is fast but has a clear start-up, so dodge sideways the moment he lowers his stance.
Treat every red indicator as unblockable. Flash Step away or counter with F instead of trying to block through it.
Activate Letzt Stil when your health is critically low. This restores your HP to full and is the single most important survival tool in the fight. Holding it for the right moment can turn a losing attempt into a clear.

Note: Expect to lose many times. Most players take 20 or more attempts, and each death teaches you one more pattern to recognize. Treat early runs as practice rather than failures.

Rewards and how to confirm the unlock

Beating Securis opens the Quincy Schrift unlock, which is the gate to your faction’s release. On your first clear, you also receive 5 free Schrift rerolls, plus EXP and combat progress. You will know it worked when the Schrift unlock becomes available and you can begin the Schrift process, which also leads toward Letzt Stil.

If you are playing Quincy, this is a hard requirement, not an optional challenge. Come in at Lv65 or higher with a Reserves-focused build and a full bag of healing items, and the fight becomes a matter of patience rather than luck.
