Play these note sequences to solve all four Chapter 4 piano puzzles and reach the secret boss fight.

Deltarune Chapter 4 hides four piano puzzles across the Dark Sanctuary and the Old Man’s library. At each instrument, you input a directional sequence of notes to open the next path or trigger a hidden event. The Golden Piano, the most elaborate of the four, requires tracking down three scattered music sheets before the game reveals its full melody — though if you want to skip the hunt, every solution is listed below.

All Deltarune Chapter 4 piano codes

Each code below corresponds to one of the four pianos in Chapter 4. Use directional movement keys to select each note, then confirm with the action button (Z on keyboard). Dots (•) in the Golden Piano sequence refer to the center button on the piano interface.

  • ←, ↓, ←, ↓, ←, → — Piano 1 (Dark Sanctuary entrance) — opens the locked door past the entrance area
  • ↑, ↑, ↓, ↓, ←, ←, →, ↑ — Piano 2 (route to Old Man’s Study) — clears the passage forward
  • ←, ↓, ←, →, ↓, ↓, →, → — Piano 3 (Library Small Piano) — grants access to the Dark Zone
  • ↑, •, ↑, ←, ↓, •, →, •, →, ↓, ←, • — Golden Piano (Library, top of bookshelves) — opens the fireplace door in the Old Man’s Study and starts the Hammer of Justice secret boss fight

Piano locations in Chapter 4

Piano 1 — Dark Sanctuary entrance

Deltarune Piano code number one

The first piano is one of the earliest obstacles in Chapter 4, positioned just beyond the Dark Sanctuary’s entrance area. Enter ←, ↓, ←, ↓, ←, → to open the door and proceed into the next section.

Piano 2 — route to Old Man’s Study

The second piano appears along the path leading toward the Old Man’s Study. Play ↑, ↑, ↓, ↓, ←, ←, →, ↑ to clear this puzzle and continue forward.

Piano 3 — Small Piano in the Library

Deltarune Piano code number three

After gaining access to the Library, a Small Piano blocks the path into the Dark Zone. Approach it and input ←, ↓, ←, →, ↓, ↓, →, → to open the way through.

Golden Piano — location and music sheet hunt

Deltarune Piano code number four

The Golden Piano sits atop a stack of bookshelves inside the Old Man’s library. You need your ClaimbClaws climbing gear to reach it. From the study room, take the top-left door near the boss room, then climb the right-side bookshelf and the one above it. Alternatively, from the fireplace room, head upstairs, go left through the door, and climb the right shelf to arrive at the same spot. Playing the full twelve-note sequence opens a secret door in the Old Man’s Study fireplace, which leads to the Hammer of Justice boss fight and Susie’s magic axe.

Note: The Golden Piano is completely missable. Advancing too far into Chapter 4’s main story locks off this section of the Dark Sanctuary. Complete the music sheet hunt before pushing through a major story checkpoint.

The full sequence — ↑, •, ↑, ←, ↓, •, →, •, →, ↓, ←, • — is split across three hidden music sheets. Each sheet reveals one portion of the melody, but you can input the code directly at the piano without collecting them if you already know the full answer.

Sheet 1 — Water Cooler tower (Jockington Grows the Beard area)

From the Old Man’s Study, head left past the blue piano to the three-way intersection, then take the southern path down the staircase. Pass the two bookcases and stool, turn left, and enter the room filled with blue light switches. Navigate west until you find a tower to climb on the far side. At the top, a Water Cooler enemy initiates a battle — defeat it to receive the first music sheet, which provides the Up, Dot, Up, Left portion of the sequence.

Sheet 2 — dark maze tower (left of the Library)

Return to the two bookcases and stool, but this time head right into the dark hallway. Follow the corridor until you find a large tower, then climb inside and move directly north through the internal maze. Blue light pulses from Kris help identify walls and obstacles. The second music sheet is at the north end of the maze and carries the Down, Dot, Right, Dot segment.

Sheet 3 — behind the waterfall in the Library

Head through the Library toward the Golden Piano’s bookshelf room. In the narrow corridor, turn left rather than going north to reach a waterfall. Walk directly behind the waterfall to find a hidden entrance into a dark maze — the longest of the three. Navigate using the blue light pulses and the golden floor buttons scattered throughout. Reaching the end of the maze yields the final segment: Right, Down, Left, Dot.

With all three sheets collected, return to the Golden Piano and play all twelve notes in order. A cutscene triggers once the final note lands correctly, confirming the fireplace door has opened in the Old Man’s Study.
