Phasmophobia Weekly Challenge: Lights Out! Modifiers and How to Complete It

The current Lights Out! rotation runs on 6 Tanglewood Drive with broken power, no flashlights, and a $5,000 reward.

The current Lights Out! rotation runs on 6 Tanglewood Drive with broken power, no flashlights, and a $5,000 reward.

The weekly challenge in Phasmophobia is a curated Challenge Mode contract that swaps the normal rules for a fixed ruleset and a preset loadout. Every week the game serves up one of these trials, and completing it pays out a large lump of cash and experience. Right now, from June 28 to July 5, the active challenge is Lights Out! on 6 Tanglewood Drive.

Quick answer: Load the Challenge Mode contract from the difficulty selection, then correctly identify the ghost on 6 Tanglewood Drive three times to clear Lights Out! and earn $5,000 and 5,000 XP.

How weekly Challenge Mode works

Challenge Mode hands you a custom difficulty, usually built on Professional, with predetermined rules and a fixed set of starter items. Because you cannot bring your own gear, dying carries no money risk, so you are free to experiment.

The reward multiplier is always 1x, the same as Amateur. The real payoff comes from the weekly task tied to the featured map, which grants $5,000 and 5,000 XP when you finish it. You can play any challenge on any map as many times as you like, but the weekly task only counts when you complete it on the intended map for that challenge.

Note: Identifying the ghost is enough to count toward completion. You do not need to survive the contract to make progress.

Lights Out! modifiers (June 28 to July 5)

Lights Out! takes place on 6 Tanglewood Drive with all the lights off and no Flashlights to fall back on. Sanity bleeds away fast, and the fuse box is broken, so you will be navigating a dark house with limited tools. Here are the exact rules for this contract.

How to find and start the weekly challenge

Open the bulletin board and choose either a single-player or multiplayer game. This brings you to the difficulty selection screen.
Scroll to the right past the Insanity difficulty. The Challenge Mode entry sits beyond it, marked on the black tape at the top of the screen, with the active challenge name shown.
Select the challenge and start the contract. The map and starter items are already set, so you cannot change the loadout.
Correctly identify the ghost on the featured map. Repeat until you have guessed correctly three times, which completes the weekly task and credits the $5,000 and 5,000 XP.

Tips for clearing Lights Out!

  • Carry every item you need to the front door before entering. There is no setup time, so the ghost can hunt at any moment and you want to avoid trips back to the van.
  • Rely on the Firelight to see. With all lights off and no Flashlight, it is your only reliable light source inside the house.
  • Place Crucifixes in the ghost room once you locate it. They block hunts, which matters because the 200% sanity drain triggers hunts often.
  • Play with friends. If you die, your correct identifications still count, and a teammate can keep the investigation going.
  • Make a guess before you leave even if you are unsure, then reroll and try again. There is nothing to lose since the gear is free.

When the challenge resets

The weekly challenge rotates every Monday at 12am UTC, which lands at 6pm CT on Sunday. You get a full week to finish each one. The challenges run on a fixed rotation, so any trial you miss will come back around later.

The next weekly challenge, running from July 5 to 12, is Speed Demons on Maple Lodge Campsite, where both players and the ghost move at 150% speed. It begins the moment Lights Out! ends.

All 26 weekly challenges and their maps

There are 26 standard challenges in the rotation, and the order stays the same each cycle, so you always know what is coming next.
