Hybrids are humans who carry devil powers in Devil Hunter, and there are three of them to unlock: Katana, Chainsaw, and Bomb. The one you can become is tied directly to the faction you join, and only human characters qualify. Fiends cannot turn into hybrids at all.
Quick answer: Stay human, join the matching faction, reach Elite Rank or Senior Advisor, finish the last soul trial, then farm 5 devil fragments from that hybrid’s raid and use the crafted heart to replace your normal heart.
Requirements before you can become a hybrid
Every hybrid shares the same gate. You must be a human character, you must hold the right rank, and you must clear the final soul trial. Without all three, the heart will not let you transform even if you own the fragments.
- Be human. Fiends are locked out of hybrid status entirely.
- Reach Elite Rank or Senior Advisor in your faction.
- Complete the last soul trial.
- Collect the hybrid materials, which all drop from the matching raid.
Faction, fragments, and crafting cost for each hybrid
Your faction decides which heart you can build. Katana comes from the Yakuza, Chainsaw comes from Public Safety, and Bomb is open to either side. The fragments needed are identical in count, but the crafting cost differs.

How to confirm the transformation worked
The change is complete the moment you use a devil heart and it replaces your normal heart. Your character keeps human status while gaining the hybrid moveset, so the base skill becomes usable straight away.
If the heart will not activate, recheck the gate. You need to be human, hold Elite Rank or Senior Advisor, and have the last soul trial cleared. For the Katana path specifically, the extra skills beyond the base will only appear after you finish the hybrid questline in the soul realm, so an incomplete moveset there means the questline is still in progress rather than a failed transform.
