The Ghost Sprite is an Epic-rarity companion added to Fortnite in Chapter 7 Season 3, and it turns reloading into a quick escape by cloaking you for a few seconds. It lives on the Shattered Coast island, but it only appears under specific conditions, so knowing when and where to look matters more than luck alone.
Quick answer: Play a match during in-game nighttime on the Shattered Coast, then find a Ghost Sprite wandering the island or pull one from a Chest, Rare Chest, Sprite Chest, or fishing spot. Take it to an extraction point or use a Portable Extractor to add it to your collection permanently.
Where to find the Ghost Sprite
Ghost Sprites roam the entire Shattered Coast island, but only after the map shifts into nighttime. Dropping in or surviving until night gives you the window you need, since daytime matches will not have them out in the open.
Beyond catching one in the wild, you can pull the Ghost Sprite from several loot sources. It appears in regular Chests, Rare Chests, Sprite Chests, and fishing spots scattered across the island. The pull rate from a Sprite Chest sits at roughly 5.74 percent, so it is uncommon but not rare enough to require a specific route.

Because the Ghost Sprite is Epic, single pulls are inconsistent. The reliable approach is to spend nighttime moving between Sprite Chests and container clusters, checking each one until a Ghost Sprite shows up.

Add to Google Preferences →How to extract and keep the Ghost Sprite
Finding a Ghost Sprite in a match is only temporary. To add it to your collection for good, you have to extract it before you lose it.
A successful extraction also unlocks a style for The Guardian skin in the Runners Battle Pass, which is a good way to confirm the pull registered.

What the Ghost Sprite does
The Ghost Sprite cloaks you the moment you reload a weapon. That short burst of invisibility is built for close fights, letting you break line of sight, reposition, or reset before an enemy can finish the trade while you top up ammo.
Like other Sprites, its cloak grows stronger as you level it up. Each level adds half a second of invisibility, topping out at five seconds.
| Level | Cloak duration |
|---|---|
| Level 1 | 3.0 seconds |
| Level 2 | 3.5 seconds |
| Level 3 | 4.0 seconds |
| Level 4 | 4.5 seconds |
| Level 5 | 5.0 seconds |
Note: An earlier version of the Ghost Sprite cloaked for 2 to 4 seconds. A June 11 update raised it to the current 3 to 5 second range, so a maxed Ghost Sprite now holds invisibility a full second longer than at launch.
If you want the strongest version, take the Ghost Sprite to Level 5 and extract it. Mastering it that way lets you drop into future matches with the full five-second cloak already unlocked.
All Ghost Sprite variants and their bonuses
The Ghost Sprite has a base form plus several Special variants. Every variant keeps the reload cloak and stacks an extra bonus on top of it. The base version summons for 3,000, while each Special variant costs 6,000.
| Variant | Extra bonus | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Base Ghost Sprite | Reload cloak only | Available |
| Gold Ghost Sprite | 3x bonus XP from eliminations | Available |
| Gummy Ghost Sprite | 20% more Sprite Dust on extraction | Available |
| Galaxy Ghost Sprite | 30% more Ammunition when looting | Available |
| Holofoil Ghost Sprite | 30% chance for the whole squad to find rare Sprite variants from containers | Unreleased |
| Gem Ghost Sprite | 30% less fall damage | Unreleased |

The Galaxy Ghost Sprite was the most recent variant to go live. The Holofoil Ghost Sprite is set to arrive on July 9, 2026, and the Gem variant remains in the files without a released look. All variants share the same nighttime spawn behavior, so hunting them means playing the island after dark and checking Sprite Chests, which is where the rarer Special forms trickle out.
