Edward Kenway has 31 outfits to swap through in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, and they land in your inventory through four very different routes. Some drop during the story, some sit in shops or chests, and a handful cost real money through Helix packs. The one thing they all share is that the look never changes how Edward fights.
Quick answer: Every outfit is purely cosmetic. You unlock 23 by playing the game (story, shops, chests, side quests, contracts), buy legacy looks with Keys in the Animus Hub Exchange, earn three more with Data Fragments through Projects, and purchase the rest from the Helix Store.
Outfits are cosmetic only in Black Flag Resynced
The original 2013 game tied combat and stealth bonuses to certain outfits. That is gone. In the remake, none of the outfits carry stats, armor values, or perks, so wearing Duncan Walpole’s Robes gives you the same defense as Templar Armor.
Perks now live on a separate item type called trinkets. Helix Store packs bundle weapons and trinkets alongside their outfit, and those extras do have real combat effects. So the paid packs can change how you play, but the clothing on Edward’s back never will.

You’ll know an unlock landed when the outfit appears in the Outfits grid under Inventory, ready to equip with the on-screen prompt. Store purchases and treasure dealer trades apply the moment you confirm the buy, while quest and chest rewards show a pickup notification.
Note: A few looks including Shade and Shadow Robes, the Governor’s Outfit, and the Hunter Outfit exist in-game, but their exact unlock condition is not yet confirmed.
Legacy outfits from the Animus Hub Exchange
The Animus Hub is new to the remake, and its Exchange tab lets you spend Keys on outfits pulled from other Assassin’s Creed games. To grab one, open the Vault, switch to the Exchange tab, and confirm the purchase once you have enough Keys.
You earn Keys from Synchronization objectives, story progress, and the limited activities that appear on the world map. Keys also sit around the Caribbean as collectibles worth 30 each, and each Project pays out roughly 3,500 to 4,000 more. If you played Assassin’s Creed Shadows first, your existing Keys carry over.

At launch, Connor’s Outfit is the confirmed legacy look on offer, costing 3,000 Keys. It recreates the white-and-blue colonial robes worn by Edward’s grandson, Ratonhnhaké:ton. Ezio and Altaïr’s outfits from the original are not in the Exchange yet and are expected in later updates.
Project outfits earned with Data Fragments
Projects run on a different currency. Instead of Keys, you activate a Project in the Vault, hunt down its Anomalies on the world map, and complete their objectives to collect Data Fragments. Each Anomaly pays 700 Data Fragments, and those push the active Project’s reward track toward its outfit.
Three outfits come from this system. If you already advanced Riptides or Undertow in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, that Data Fragment progress carries into Resynced.
| Outfit | Project | How to unlock |
|---|---|---|
| Naoe’s Robes | Riptides | Progress the Riptides reward track with Data Fragments |
| Yasuke’s Yoroi | Undertow | Progress the Undertow reward track with Data Fragments |
Dark Animus Corsair Robes | Eye in the Dark | Reach the final reward of the Eye in the Dark Project |
Helix Store and Character Pack outfits
These are the premium looks, bought with Helix credits through the store. Each pack pairs its outfit with matching weapons, a trinket, and themed gear for your ship, crew, and pet. The outfit stays cosmetic, but the bundled weapon and trinket carry real perks, which is where the actual gameplay value sits.
| Outfit | Pack | Bundled perks |
|---|---|---|
Storm Fury Shroud | Sea Serpent Pack | Perfect parry recovers health; trinket recovers health on kill |
Helion Armor | Helion Pack | Pistol sword fires two shots on heavy attack, breaks set enemies alight; berserk dart ignites targets |
Dragonscale Armor | Dragon Storm Pack | Attack power rises briefly after a kill; brief invulnerability after a perfect dodge |
Master Assassin Robes | Master Assassin Pack / Deluxe Edition | Black satin and gold leaf robes |
Black and Gold Robes | Deluxe Edition or separate purchase | Bundled weapons widen AoE heavy attack range and cut rope dart cooldown |
The Crimson Costume rounds out the paid options as a pre-order bonus, available through the official Black Flag Resynced product page. If you’re chasing combat value rather than looks, the Sea Serpent Pack is the standout, since its Serpent Fang Cutlass, trinket, and Fury of the Deep pistols all feed health back to Edward, and the cutlass effect stacks with a matching in-game trinket.
Since nothing you wear affects your stats, the outfit you settle on is a pure style choice. Chase the grounded pirate looks through quests and chests, spend Keys on legacy robes when you want them, and treat the Helix packs as optional cosmetics whose real pull is the weapons and trinkets tucked inside.
