This Old Cove Walkthrough in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced

This Old Cove is the Sequence 4 mission that picks up right after A Single Madman in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. It runs short, but it teaches you the Mayan Stelae puzzle system and opens the four Templar Hunt missions that reward a full set of Master Assassin armor.

Start This Old Cove and follow James Kidd

The mission begins on its own once you re-enter the Animus after A Single Madman. Make your way to the ship dock, where James Kidd is waiting for you.

Walk alongside Kidd as he leads you away from the beach and down the dirt path. After a short stretch, a cutscene plays and the mission moves into its next part.

Solve the Mayan Stelae puzzle

Kidd guides you to a glowing stone structure, a Mayan Stelae. This is where the game teaches you the puzzle mechanic you will use for the rest of these collectibles across the map.

Climb to the very top of the Stelae structure using the button prompt shown on screen.

Activate Eagle Vision when prompted to start the mini-puzzle. Rotate your view so the glowing white lines and rings line up with objects in the surrounding environment. On this first Stelae, the circle sits on the tree stump and the two squares rest on the two square pillars.

Once the lines match up correctly, the puzzle solves itself and a green marker appears on the ground nearby. Walk to that spot and press the dig button to unearth the Mayan Stone.

After you dig, a brief conversation plays and the world map opens to show the locations of every other Mayan Stelae in the game. Exit the menu when you are ready to continue.

Return to the mansion and unlock the Templar Hunts

Follow James Kidd again as he heads back through the jungle toward the mansion from the previous mission. Head up the staircase inside to the top to trigger the next cutscene.

Here you find the Master Assassin gear held behind a row of locks on the wall. You already carry the Templar Key taken from du Casse, which handles one of the locks automatically. The remaining four keys come from completing the Templar Hunt side missions, and this scene marks their targets on your map.

The four Templar Hunts revealed at this point are shown below. Each one you finish hands over a key, and collecting all four unlocks the full armor set, which greatly reduces the damage you take.

Tip: These hunts become available only after This Old Cove wraps up, so you cannot finish the armor set during the mission itself. Grabbing it early is worthwhile once the hunts open, given how much damage the gear soaks up.

Finish at the docks with Adewale

Leave the mansion and follow the green marker back down to the docks.

Meet James Kidd at the waypoint. A cutscene plays, and afterward you are prompted to follow Adewale using the on-screen button.

Stay with Adewale as he moves toward the ship, then pick up the supplies alongside him.

Carry the supplies to the marked destination. A final cutscene plays once they are delivered, which completes This Old Cove.

You will know the quest is done when the closing cutscene ends and the objective clears. From here you move into Nothing Is True, the next Sequence 4 mission, while the four Templar Hunts sit open on your map whenever you want to chase down the Master Assassin armor.
