Drain the Lake Buckets Ranked: Every Bucket Tier List (July 2026)

Every Bucket ranked by how much it speeds up Token earnings and progress toward the phone ending.

Every Bucket ranked by how much it speeds up Token earnings and progress toward the phone ending.

Buckets are the core tool in Drain the Lake. You fill one at the water’s edge, teleport to the drain, and pour it out to earn Tokens. The Bucket you carry decides how fast that loop pays off, since each one carries a passive that boosts Token income, capacity, fill speed, or gem drops. With more than ten options spread across five rarities, picking the right Bucket early is the difference between a slow crawl and a quick descent to the phone at the bottom.

Quick answer: Prioritize a Token-multiplier Bucket. The Toxic, Dragon, Golden, and Ancient Buckets sit at the top because they directly increase Token earnings, and the Ancient Bucket is the most attainable of them since it only needs 10 Badges plus joining the game’s Roblox group.

The ranking below reflects the game state as of the July 2026 update. Placement is based on one thing above all, which is how much a Bucket accelerates Token income and, by extension, your run distance. Capacity and fill-speed effects matter, but they move the needle far less than a flat Token multiplier, so they land lower.

S-Tier Buckets and how to unlock them

These four carry the strongest passives in the game. Every one of them raises Token earnings, and most stack a second bonus on top such as instant cash-outs, doubled payouts, or gem digs. If you can get any of them, run it.

BucketAbilityHow to unlock
Toxic Bucket+20% Token earnings; 10% chance to instantly cash out when fullExclusive to Wheel spins
Dragon Bucket+20% Token earnings; 15% chance to double a payoutRobux purchase
Golden Bucket+15% Token earnings; pours can turn up Diamonds2,000 Diamonds
Ancient Bucket+10% Token earnings; digs up higher-tier gemsEarn 10 Badges and join the game’s Roblox group

The Ancient Bucket is the easiest of the three Legendary Buckets to earn, so it is the best target for most players. Badges reward Gems on their own, and reaching 10 of them unlocks the Ancient Bucket from the lobby once you have joined the group. The Golden Bucket is the practical Diamond goal after that, since its Diamond-on-pour effect helps refund its own cost over repeated runs.

A-Tier Buckets

The A-Tier pair speeds up progress in a meaningful way without matching the raw output of the S-Tier. Reach for these when you have the resources to unlock them but not yet enough for a Token multiplier.

BucketAbilityHow to unlock
Toilet Bucket+3 Bucket capacity; 10% chance to auto-flush and cash out when fullExclusive to Wheel spins
Magnet BucketAuto-collects your Token earnings; +5% Token earnings1,200 Diamonds

The Magnet Bucket’s auto-collect saves you the trip back for Tokens, which quietly speeds up every loop. The Toilet Bucket leans on its larger capacity plus the chance to skip the drain trip entirely, so it rewards a steady fill-and-pour rhythm.

B-Tier and C-Tier Buckets

The B-Tier Buckets edge out the starter only slightly. Their small boosts add up across a long run, but you will not feel the difference minute to minute. Treat them as your first cheap step up from the default. The Default Bucket sits alone in C-Tier as the baseline with no passive at all, useful only until you can swap to anything better.

How to buy and keep a better Bucket

Progress inside a run does not carry over, but your Gem and Diamond totals stay with you in the lobby. That changes how you shop.

Open chests while draining to build up Gems, since your Gem count is not lost when you return to the lobby. Tokens reset every run, so spend those in-run on Character upgrades instead.
Buy your next Bucket at the end of a run, from the Bucket Shop in the lobby, so it is equipped before your next descent. A new Bucket only helps the runs that come after you own it.
Chase Badges toward the Ancient Bucket. Claim Badge rewards at the Badges station in the lobby, and once you hit 10 Badges and have joined the group, the Ancient Bucket becomes claimable there.

Note: Because Wheel spins are the only way to get the Toxic and Toilet Buckets, you cannot buy them outright. Plan your Diamond spending around the Golden and Magnet Buckets, which have fixed costs you can save toward.

For most players, the fastest path is simple. Grind Badges toward the Ancient Bucket first, then save Diamonds for the Golden Bucket, and treat any Toxic or Dragon Bucket you land as a bonus upgrade. Anything that multiplies Tokens beats a capacity or speed bump, and that single rule holds from your first run to the moment you finally pull the phone out of the mud.
