How to Unlock Mengzhou in Wuthering Waves (Version 3.5)

Mengzhou is the new Huanglong province added in Wuthering Waves Version 3.5, sitting alongside Jinzhou and opening up the Land of Xuanfang. You do not buy it, teleport to it early, or find a hidden entrance. The region unlocks as a scripted part of the main story, so the only requirement is reaching the right quest in Chapter IV.

Quick answer: Play the Version 3.5 main story quest Chapter IV Act I: The Wind Before the Storm until Suisui leads you into the Dreaming Cavern and the gateway of Xuanfang. The final cutscene there unlocks Mengzhou.

What you need before Mengzhou unlocks

Mengzhou released with Version 3.5, which went live on July 10, 2026. Once the update is installed, the new main story chapter becomes available and carries you into the region. There is no separate exploration toggle and no minimum character level tied to entry.

If the story quest does not appear yet, finish the remaining Lahai-Roi story content first. Mengzhou follows directly after the Lahai-Roi arc wraps up, so the game routes you back toward Huanglong once that chapter is done.

How to reach Mengzhou through the story quest

The path runs from Lahai-Roi, back to Jinzhou, and finally into Xuanfang. Follow the objective markers at each stage and let the cutscenes play out.

Start The Wind Before the Storm while in Lahai-Roi. A letter from Yangyang arrives, and Rover replies during the cutscene. The scene then shifts to Chixia and Yangyang moving along the borders of Xuanfang, the gateway to Mengzhou.

A group of Tacet Discords ambushes the pair, so clear them to continue. Control returns to Rover afterward. Speak with Luuk, Mornye, and Hiyuki to trigger the next event, a graduation celebration where Rover says goodbye to the friends made at Lahai-Roi before heading to Jinzhou.

Arrive in Jinzhou and walk to the objective marker. A cutscene with Zhezhi explains the trouble spreading through Huanglong, including Chixia being hospitalized and Yangyang going missing.

Head to the City Hall to learn more. You meet Suisui, Yangyang’s sister, and Jinhsi appears to brief you and hand over the key to Xuanfang Hold.

Before entering Xuanfang, go to the Huaxu Academy to meet your old friend. See Chixia, talk with Baizhi, and then regroup with Suisui.

Teleport to the Dreaming Cavern and enter it to reach the gateway of Xuanfang. Move to the objective marker inside. The cutscene that plays introduces the Land of Xuanfang and unlocks Mengzhou.

How to confirm Mengzhou is unlocked

You know the unlock worked when the gateway cutscene ends and the game drops you into the Land of Xuanfang. From that point you are free to keep following the quest or break off and explore. The new province appears on your world map under Huanglong, giving you access to its areas, chests, world quests, and resonator ascension materials.

If Mengzhou still is not open, the most common cause is stopping the main story too early. The region only appears after the Xuanfang gateway cutscene, so any objective before that point means there is still story left to clear.

What Mengzhou adds once you arrive

Mengzhou is one of Huanglong’s major provinces, known for its waterways, dense greenery, and busy trade with a strong Taoist character. Under its Sentinel, Hsin, the region developed unique automata that were deployed across Xuanfang to hold back the Tacet Discord threat. Xuanfang itself separates Mengzhou from Jinzhou and falls under Mengzhou’s frontier court.

Exploring the province feeds fresh materials into your account, including ascension materials for new units like Yangyang: Xuanling. It also serves as the setting for the ongoing Chapter IV story, so clearing more of the region opens additional areas within the Land of Xuanfang as you progress.
