Winning runs in Anime Overseer comes down to balancing four jobs across your team. You need raw damage, speed to reach enemies fast, tanks that soak hits, and support that stalls waves long enough for your carries to work. The units below are ranked on how well they cover those jobs from mid-game into the endgame, so you can pour rare materials into the right fighters instead of spreading them thin.
Quick answer: Build around Michael (Progenitor), Brolu (LSSJ), Akoza (Destructive Death), Jogo (Maximum: Meteor), and Friera (Evolved) as your core carries, then add Pain (Tendo) for stun support. These five carries hold up from mid-game through boss fights.
How these rankings work
Placement reflects overall power from mid-game to endgame, effect on progression speed, and how fast a unit clears stages. Rarity and how hard a unit is to obtain do not change the tier. A unit that is a pain to get but demolishes bosses still ranks high. The tiers break down like this.
- S — meta carries that stand on their own from start to finish.
- A — strong all-rounders that stay useful through most of the game.
- B — fine for early clears, but you will swap them out later.
- C — only worth using when you have nothing better.
This ranking reflects the July 2026 Early Access build.

| Unit | Tier | Why it ranks here | Best traits |
|---|---|---|---|
![]() Michael (Progenitor) | S | Tank and DPS hybrid that is nearly unkillable thanks to extra lives, with damage that climbs from on-kill summons. Reaches S even before awakening. | Overseer, Boundless |
![]() Brolu (LSSJ) | S | The highest raw DPS in the game and a boss-shredder. He is a Secret unit, so obtaining him is the hard part. Once you do, invest everything. | Overseer, Boundless |
![]() Akoza (Destructive Death) | S | A tanky front-liner with dodge, lifesteal, and high speed on top of strong damage. The best mix of DPS and mobility in one slot. | Overseer, Overclocked |
![]() Jogo (Maximum: Meteor) | S | Burn DPS whose damage stacks over time until it melts bosses. Competes with endgame units despite being a Mythic. | Overseer, Aetheric |
![]() Friera (Evolved) | S | Very slow to get going, but her ramping damage eventually rivals the top carries and wins elite and boss fights once she reaches the action. | Overseer, Overclocked |
![]() Nayoma (24 FPS) | A | The fastest unit in the game. Carries hard early to mid, and after his EVO he stays useful late thanks to that speed. | Overseer, Overclocked |
![]() Nazuka (Exploding Blood) | A | A super-tanky unit that still puts out serious damage. Doubles as one of the best tanks in the game. | Overseer, Boundless |
![]() Chazo (Supernova) | A | The best damage-over-time carry after Jogo, hitting his stride from mid to late game. | Overseer, Aetheric |
![]() Rangoka (Ablaze) | A | A blend of high DPS and speed that just misses S. Flexible across most modes. | Overseer, Overclocked |
![]() Obeto (Kamui) | B | Fast and useful early, but his low damage means you cannot lean on him from start to finish. | Overseer, Overclocked |
![]() Dengen (Rhapsody) | B | Roughly the second-fastest unit after Nayoma, held back by weaker DPS. A solid early pick. | Overseer, Overclocked |
![]() Nahito (Evolved) | C | A serviceable tank with low durability and low damage. Fine as a stopgap, nothing more. | Overseer, Boundless |
Why the S-tier carries stand apart
The top five all share one trait: they stay relevant against bosses and elite enemies, not just trash waves. Michael and Brolu sit at the very top for opposite reasons. Michael refuses to die and snowballs his own damage on kills, while Brolu offers the single biggest hit in the game once you finally pull him. Akoza is the pick when you want survivability and speed in the same slot instead of splitting those roles across two units.
Jogo and Friera are both ramp units, so they reward patience. Their damage builds the longer a fight runs, which is exactly what you want for long boss encounters. Friera’s only weakness is how slowly she reaches the fight, so pair her with faster teammates to buy time.
Best support units ranked
Support units keep enemies locked down or weakened so your carries survive. Every one of them wants the same trait line of Echo, Marksman, and Overseer.
| Unit | Tier | Role | Best traits |
|---|---|---|---|
![]() Pain (Tendo) | S | The best stunner in the game. His stun stalls enemies long enough for your damage dealers to finish them. | Echo, Marksman, Overseer |
![]() Freezer (Planet Conqueror) | A | The best debuffer, with enough damage of his own to pull real weight. | Echo, Marksman, Overseer |
![]() Enmou (Blissful Dream) | B | Decent crowd control best suited to early and mid-game teams. | Echo, Marksman, Overseer |
![]() Muki (Singularity) | C | Weak damage and thin support value. Use him until something better opens up. | Echo, Marksman, Overseer |
Best tank units
Tanks live on the front line and absorb damage so the rest of your team survives. The order here is short and clear. Michael (Progenitor) is the top tank and the top carry at the same time, thanks to his extra lives. Nazuka (Exploding Blood) is the second-best tank and hits far harder than a pure wall should. Nahito (Evolved) rounds it out as a lower-damage option if you have nothing else. All three run Overseer and Boundless.
Best units for beginners
Early on you want reliable clears, not perfect traits. Sonic Ninja is the strongest starter unit, and Kotaro and Hawk are the best Legendaries to run alongside him. Use those three to grind your way to a first Mythic and into the mid-game.
Once you are pulling stronger units, prioritize Nazuka and Nayoma. Nazuka gives you a tank that also deals real damage, and Nayoma’s speed drives your progression from early through mid-game while staying useful later. Pain is the next target, since his stun lets the rest of your team keep attacking without taking hits.
Where to farm resources for upgrades
Investing in the units above burns through Gems, Gold, and EXP. These routes give the best returns.
| Resource | Best farming routes |
|---|---|
| Gems | Infinity Express Raid, Act 3, or grind Sand Village on Nightmare (500% / Chapter 8). |
| Gold | Infinity Express Raid, Act 3, or grind Blue Planet on Nightmare (500% / Chapter 8). |
| EXP | Grind Blue Planet on Nightmare (500% / Chapter 8). |
| Special Glasses | Earned from leveling up, Merchants, and Challenges. |
Secondary evolution materials come from Crafting, Weekly and Daily Challenges, Hourly Soul Challenges, and the Raids Merchant. Since the game is still in Early Access, expect this order to shift as new units and balance changes land, but the current build rewards committing fully to a handful of S-tier carries rather than leveling everyone at once.
