Endless Ragnarok: How to Prepare for the Darkness Bosses in Granblue Fantasy: Relink

What the dark-element endgame threats demand and the exact sigils, traits, and systems to bring against them.

What the dark-element endgame threats demand and the exact sigils, traits, and systems to bring against them.

The hardest fights in Granblue Fantasy: Relink’s Endless Ragnarok are its dark-heavy endgame bosses, where relentless darkness pressure can wipe an unprepared party in seconds. These encounters sit at the top of the expansion’s difficulty and reward you with materials to awaken and strengthen your crew’s weapons. Beating them is less about one trick and more about the right survival setup and burst timing.

Quick answer: Face the toughest darkness threats as Chaos-tier encounters. Bring survival sigils (Guts III, Autorevive III, Immortal Shell), lean on Master Traits and Backup Characters, and open damage windows with Primal Burst. You are ready when you can survive a full burst phase without losing your whole party.

Where the darkness bosses appear

Endless Ragnarok’s marquee fights live in its new endgame content rather than the base campaign. The expansion adds a fresh chapter, Chaos-tier quests, and a run of new bosses tuned for players who already cleared the original story. Dark-element and high-pressure encounters are concentrated here.

BossWhat to know
Ragnalia the Heralds of DoomThe central new threat driving the expansion’s endgame challenge.
BeelzebubA Granblue Fantasy Versus foe added as a punishing new fight.
Seofon and TweyenAppear as bosses and are also added as special playable characters.

Chaos quests unlock after you complete the Chaos Key Quests, then climb through Chaos+ rank quests. Key quests are marked with an orange sword icon, and rank quests with a purple arrow icon at the Quest Counter. Some Chaos quests also allow Summons, so check the Quest Counter to confirm before you build around them.

The dark dragon connection

Darkness runs through Endless Ragnarok’s roster as much as its bosses. Fediel, one of the Six Dragons, joins as a playable ally described as “Darkness Personified,” an entity with dominion over darkness who bends the laws of nature. Fraux, a dark-adjacent pactbearer to The Devil, and the dark-element close-combat specialist Beatrix round out the crew members you can turn against these fights.

Note: You do not need a dark-element character to win. Element coverage matters more for your damage sigils than for the character you control, so pick the crew member whose kit you can pilot cleanly under pressure.

Survival sigils to counter darkness pressure

Heavy darkness attacks punish greed. Before you optimize raw damage, build in the safety net so a single unlucky window does not end the run. The sigils below prioritize staying alive long enough to punish the boss.

SigilPurpose
Guts IIISurvival insurance against a fatal hit.
Autorevive IIISelf-recovery when you go down.
Immortal ShellAdded defensive layer for prolonged fights.
War Elemental+Boosts your elemental damage output.
Supplementary DMG V+Adds flat extra damage to your hits.
Celestial NyxDark-element sigil for dark-focused builds.

The Guts III & Autorevive III Sigil Set ships as a pre-order and first-print bonus, while Supplementary Damage V and the War Elemental Sigil Set are offered as a Steam early-purchase reward. You can review the editions and bonuses on the official Endless Ragnarok site.

Offense: Primal Burst and Master Traits

Damage output in the endgame runs through two new systems. Primal Burst is a chain burst that triggers game-changing effects, and it can only be used in Chaos quests and higher difficulties. Save it for the boss’s vulnerable window rather than firing it on cooldown.

Equip Master Traits that match your character’s role, choosing a clear damage, survival, utility, or team-support direction instead of spreading thin.
Bring a summon into Chaos quests that allow it. Some summons can be freely controlled for a set time, while others activate special effects through Lyria when the party initiates a Primal Burst.
Hold your Primal Burst until the boss is staggered or exposed, then chain your character’s Combo Finisher and Power Finisher payoff moves into that window for the largest damage spike.

Backup Characters and co-op support

Backup Characters let you keep the pressure on even when your main goes down, which matters against fights that stack heavy darkness damage. If you prefer a team, Endless Ragnarok keeps 4-player online co-op and adds cross-platform play across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC (Steam), and Nintendo Switch, with Switch 2 players also able to link locally. A coordinated squad can rotate revives and burst windows that a solo run cannot.

How to know you are ready

You are prepared when you can absorb a full burst phase from the boss without your whole party falling, and when your Primal Burst comes back up before the next opening. If a run ends fast, the usual causes are missing survival sigils, a Primal Burst spent outside a stagger window, or entering a Chaos quest before your rank and gear match its tier. Clear the required Chaos Key Quests, lock in your survival sigils and Master Traits, and treat every darkness spike as a cue to defend first and punish second.
