Honkai: Star Rail 4.4 brings back Fate/Stay Night with a second crossover built around the Imagenae: Holy Grail War Trailblaze Continuance and its tie-in combat event, Fate/Star Rail Night. Rin Tohsaka ends up stranded in Planarcadia, and the Astral Express has to help her rebuild the magical energy she needs to get home. Instead of using your usual character skills in these fights, you play cards called Conceptual Mystic Codes to deal damage or grab buffs.
Quick answer: Reach Trailblaze Level 3 and finish the “Planarcadia – So Laughed the Masses” story quest to start Imagenae: Holy Grail War. If you’re Trailblaze Level 21 or higher, you can skip the prerequisite and jump in early using Finality’s Vision.
How to unlock Imagenae: Holy Grail War
The event went live on July 24, 2026 and stays available throughout Version 4.4, so there’s no rush to clear it in a single sitting. There are two ways in.
You’ll know it worked when the Trailblaze Continuance appears and Rin Tohsaka joins you. Interacting with Furbulitzer triggers the continuation, and from there the story sends you around Planarcadia to talk with different NPCs between fights.

Fights use a preset lineup, and your characters can’t use their normal abilities. Instead, a row of Conceptual Mystic Code cards sits at the bottom of the screen, each rolling with random offensive or defensive effects. On your turn you pick a card to make its move, and some offensive cards ask you to choose a target first.

Every card costs Magical Energy. If you don’t have enough, you can’t play it, so keep an eye on the energy meter and end your turn when it runs dry. Build up enough energy over a fight and you can unleash Ultimates. Your team’s HP sits over the character icons on the left, and that bar also previews how much damage the enemy’s next attack will do, which tells you when to play something defensive.
You collect more Conceptual Mystic Codes as you push through the Trailblaze Continuance, and you can add or swap cards in your deck at any time. Powerful allies also join as the story goes on, each bringing their own Mystic Codes. Depending on who you team with, Rin Tohsaka’s Ruby Pendant grants different buffs based on that ally’s abilities, so it’s worth experimenting with combinations.
Claim Gilgamesh or Archer for free
Alongside the event, the crossover hands out a free collab character. From July 24 at 12:00 (server time) until the end of Version 4.6, you can choose to receive either Gilgamesh (Destruction: Lightning) or Archer (The Hunt: Quantum) at no cost. You can only pick one, so decide which path and element fits your roster before you claim.
If you want the limited 5-star Gilgamesh specifically, he’s also available on the collaboration Warp banner using Star Rail Special Passes, which opened at the same 12:00 start on July 24.
Infinite Trial bosses and how to approach them
Once you finish the Imagenae: Holy Grail War continuance, the Infinite Trial mode opens up. The bosses here are the same ones from the story, but you can toggle affixes to make them tougher and earn extra rewards. Clearing these harder versions is the main way to squeeze more out of the event.
| Boss | Recommended approach |
|---|---|
| Imagenae Apex Depredator | Run the Trailblaze: Tohsaka Style lineup. Aha Smash! codes strip its Defense stacks cheaply, while Chimera and Avalon keep HP up and Bullworker and King’s Vintage restore energy. Play any Ruby Pendant before Aha Smash! cards. |
| Knockoff King of Heroes | Use the Treasure: Tohsaka Style lineup with Gilgamesh. Kill the rightmost enemy first, then the leftmost, then the last. Rho Aias, False Attendant’s Writings, and Chimera aid survival; King’s Goblet frees energy to remove enemy debuff cards. |
| Underleveled Castorice | Gilgamesh again. Target The Long Arms of Sorrow first to deny its special and recover HP. Summon a Chimera with Why Are You Here? for steady healing, and use Rho Aias to counter enhanced attacks. |
| Red Knight | Gilgamesh works well. Destroy the shield summons first to deny Argenti its buffs. Aha’s Funhouse cancels those buffs (useful in phase 2’s four-shield wave), and False Attendant’s Writing mitigates incoming hits. |
All Imagenae: Holy Grail War rewards
Working through the event and its Infinite Trial stages pays out a full spread of upgrade materials plus a chunky Stellar Jade total. You also get a Rin Tohsaka plushie to display in the Trailblazer’s Room.
| Reward | Amount |
|---|---|
| Stellar Jade | 1,650 |
| Credit | 1,060,000 |
| Self-Modeling Resin | 1 |
| Tracks of Destiny | 2 |
| Lost Crystal | 44 |
| Traveler’s Guide | 50 |
| Refined Aether | 30 |
| Galaxy Framework | 24 |
| Trailblazer’s Room Decoration | Rin Tohsaka plushie |
Since everything stays open for the rest of Version 4.4, the safest plan is to clear the Trailblaze Continuance first to unlock the Infinite Trial and your extra card options, then chip away at the tougher affix stages for the remaining Stellar Jade. Just remember to claim your free Gilgamesh or Archer before Version 4.6 ends, because that window closes well before the event materials stop mattering.
