The Dust Storm event buries Lower Manhattan in sand, and tucked into the wreckage are 20 hidden caches that pay out the same loot as the Event Vendor Gear Caches. That means rare named items and Exotics, and because the caches reset every day, clearing all 20 is like opening 20 guaranteed gear caches on repeat for the length of the event.
Quick answer: The 20 caches are split across four districts of the Warlords of New York map, which are Civic Center (5), Two Bridges (4), Financial District (5), and Battery Park (6). Listen for the beeping audio cue that grows louder as you close in, shoot or break the marked box, then survive the named-enemy ambush it triggers.
Before you go cache hunting
You need access to the event zone first. Get any Agent to Level 40, finish the Warlords of New York campaign, then head into New York while the storm is active. Warlords of New York is free for the duration of the event, so you do not need to own the expansion separately. The event is live through August 11, 2026, and you can jump in on The Division 2 across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
The order does not matter. You can grab the caches in any sequence, and a good habit is to start from a district safe house and loop outward to cut down on travel time.
How the hidden caches work
Each cache appears as a metal box, often marked with a white X, hidden in decorated spots like courtyards, side streets, and plazas rather than along the main mission paths. As you get close, a beeping sound plays and intensifies the nearer you stand, so it acts like a metal detector.
Opening a cache spawns a named-enemy ambush, so clear nearby Dust Devils and patrols before you crack one open. Turning the music down a notch makes the beep far easier to hear during the loud Raging phase.
Note: Dust Devils repair every cache after the daily reset, which makes all 20 farmable again the next day. Missed loot is not lost, only delayed.

Civic Center (5 caches)
Head into Columbus Park and find the single biggest tree. The cache sits right against that massive trunk. From there, move to Park Row, where a booth sits in the middle of the street with the box tucked beside it.
At Confucius Plaza, look for two pieces of heavy machinery facing each other. The cache is directly between them. The fourth cache, near a closed shutter beside a marked building, is the tricky one. It has been reported to spawn without the usual beep, so if the audio goes silent, search the front of the shutter by hand. The final Civic Center cache waits at the foot of the Human Spirit Fountain in Foley Square, which is the closest one to the district safe house.
Two Bridges (4 caches)
Three of these four are quick. The awkward one hides inside a lean-to within the project courtyard, so you may have to sweep the whole courtyard to pin it down. On Paul Street, look for cars stacked on top of one another and check in front of them.
The third sits at the intersection of Water Street and Peck Slip, often near an overturned vehicle in the flooded stretch. For the last one, cross to the intersection of Beekman Street and Front Street in the South Street area.
Financial District (5 caches)
Start at the corner of Fulton Street and Pearl Street, where the cache sits in the open with nothing to dig through. Next, at John Street and Front Street, look behind a flipped car against the fence. That spot is also close to the Financial District safe house, which makes it a handy loop anchor.
Gouverneur Lane holds another cache behind an overturned car. The fourth is at the intersection of South Street and Water Street. For the last one, go to the Helicopter Tours pier on the East River and check near the flipped buoy.
Battery Park (6 caches)
This district has the most to find. Begin in the Battery itself, searching the bushes near the willow trees past the barricaded roads. On Broadway, the cache hides in the gap between a tree and a building at the marked spot.
Go to the Hugh Carey Tunnel Ventilation Building and find the mural on one of its walls, with the cache sitting right in front of it. The remaining three are on the streets. Check the garbage pile beside a flipped car on Murray Street, the scaffolding on Washington Street, and finally under the scaffolding on Greenwich Street.
Confirming a clean run
You know a cache is done when the box breaks open and drops its gear, followed by the ambush spawning around you. If a location looks empty, the box has likely already been looted and is waiting on the daily repair, or the audio cue has bugged out, which is most common at the Civic Center shutter cache. In that case, walk the exact landmark on foot instead of trusting the beep.
Since every cache refills after the reset, the fastest routine is to run a fixed loop through each district once a day, clearing the ambushes as you go, and come back tomorrow for another 20 pulls of gear-cache loot.
