Fisch: How to Get the Crowbar Rod From Doug’s Quest

Where to find Doug at the Laboratory and every gem and Scrap Metal you need to claim the Crowbar Rod.

Where to find Doug at the Laboratory and every gem and Scrap Metal you need to claim the Crowbar Rod.

The Crowbar Rod is a quest-locked fishing rod in Fisch that you earn instead of buy. It comes from Doug, a thief NPC hiding at the Laboratory, who trades the rod for a short shopping list of gems and Scrap Metal. There are no puzzles or hidden switches involved, so the whole thing comes down to gathering the right items and handing them back.

Quick answer: Travel to the Laboratory north of Roslit Bay, talk to Doug near the red-and-white pillar, then bring him 1 Glass Diamond, 1 Opal, 1 Ruby, 3 Amethyst, and 3 Gravitas Scrap Metal. Handing over the full set immediately awards the Crowbar Rod.

Find Doug at the Laboratory near Roslit Bay

Head to the Laboratory point of interest, located to the north of Roslit Bay. The area sits at GPS coordinates (-1785, 130, -485).
Equip and use the climbing pole to reach the main platform at the top of the structure. Doug is not on the ground level, so you need to make the climb first.
Move to the right side of the platform to find Doug standing beside a large red-and-white circular pillar at GPS (-1863, 224, -600). Talk to him to open the quest.

Doug explains that his Laboratory heist only turned up geeky odds and ends, and he offers his Crowbar Rod in return for a set of valuable items.

Materials required for the Crowbar Rod quest

Doug asks for five things across five objectives. Most of them are gems pulled from Meteors at the Ancient Isle, plus Scrap Metal carrying the Gravitas mutation.

ItemWhere to get it
1 Glass DiamondCatch it in the Overgrowth Caves using the Training Rod, then return it.
1 Opal13.7% chance to spawn inside Meteors at the Ancient Isle.
1 Ruby27.4% chance to spawn inside Meteors at the Ancient Isle.
3 Amethyst41.4% chance to spawn inside Meteors at the Ancient Isle.
3 Gravitas Scrap MetalEquip the Olympian Godbreaker Rod and fish Scrap Metal with the Gravitas mutation during daytime at any location.

Note: check your inventory before you start. If you already carry some of these gems from earlier meteor fishing, they count toward the objectives, so you may need fewer runs than the list suggests.

Farm the gems and Gravitas Scrap Metal

The Glass Diamond is the odd one out. You fish it up in the Overgrowth Caves with the basic Training Rod rather than pulling it from a meteor. The Opal, Ruby, and Amethyst all come from breaking open Meteors at the Ancient Isle, with Amethyst being the most common of the three and Opal the rarest.

For the Scrap Metal, equip the Olympian Godbreaker Rod and fish during the daytime. You are looking specifically for Scrap Metal that rolls the Gravitas mutation, and you need three of them. Farm these while you are already out exploring so you do not have to make a separate trip.

Turn in the items and confirm the reward

Once every item is in your inventory, return to Doug on the Laboratory platform and speak with him again. The materials are handed over automatically, and the Crowbar Rod drops into your inventory right away. There are no follow-up steps after the trade.

If nothing happens when you talk to him, you are still missing part of the list. Doug only completes the trade when all five objectives are satisfied at once, so collect the full set before returning rather than turning items in one at a time.

Crowbar Rod stats

The Crowbar Rod leans heavily on Luck, and its Maximum Weight is uncapped, so it can reel in anything regardless of size.

StatValue
Lure Speed85%
Luck245%
Control0.15
Resilience35%
Maximum WeightInfinite
Progress Speed+40%
Disturbance3

The 245% Luck rating makes it strong for hunting Exotic and higher rarity fish. Enchantments such as Hasty, Resilient, or Divine can push its Control and Resilience further if you want a more balanced build. The developers have also said the Crowbar Rod will be tied to accessing future locations and progressing the main questline.

Contraband mutation and the metal pipe sound

Two cosmetic touches set the Crowbar Rod apart. Casting it plays the well-known metal pipe sound effect, which is purely for flavor and has no gameplay impact.

More usefully for collectors, fishing with the rod can produce the exclusive Contraband mutation on your catches. Players have reeled in fish such as the Contraband Trout and Contraband Sockeye Salmon, each with a distinct look that only appears through this rod.

Between the uncapped weight limit, the high Luck value, and its own exclusive mutation, the Crowbar Rod is worth the short farming trip to Doug, and it sits comfortably alongside the game’s other quest-reward rods.
