Fight on a Baseplate strips Roblox PvP down to its core. You spawn on a plain studded baseplate, and everyone around you is trying to knock you out. The game, made by ethourah, has already pulled in millions of visits, and the fights come down to three deterministic mechanics: dodging with weaves, breaking up your movement, and shifting your angle on an opponent. Master those, and you land combos while taking almost no damage.
Quick answer: Hold Space and press a movement direction to weave and dodge an incoming punch, then close in with left-click punches. Never repeat the same weave pattern, and rotate to your opponent’s side or back to keep your combo going.

Combat controls for weave, punch, and slam
Every fight uses the same three inputs. Learn them before anything else, because dodging and attacking share the movement keys.
| Action | PC | Console |
|---|---|---|
| Weave (dodge) | Space + WASD | L2 + Analog Stick |
| Punch (M1) | Left Click | R2 |
| Grab / Slam | G key | X (Xbox) / Square (PlayStation) |
Punches build a combo counter. Each connected hit stacks damage, so a clean chain reads COMBO X1, COMBO X2, COMBO X3, and up, with the damage climbing every step. Losing the chain resets it, which is why staying on target matters more than throwing wild punches.

Add to Google Preferences →Weaving to dodge every punch
Weaving is the easiest way to avoid damage while staying close enough to hit back. Instead of running away from an opponent, you hold Space and tap a direction to slip to the side of an incoming punch. When it works, a green DODGED prompt pops up and the counter climbs with each successful dodge.
On PC, the two inputs that matter most are A and D used together with Space. Weaving left and right keeps you glued to your target so you can punch the instant their swing whiffs. The goal is to sit just inside their range, dodge, and punish, rather than backing off and giving up your combo.
Tip: Practice weaving against real players, not the training dummy. A live opponent throws punches at unpredictable timings, which is the only thing that trains your dodge reactions for actual fights.

Break up your movement pattern
The single biggest mistake players make is repeating the same movement over and over. If you only weave left and right, a decent opponent reads the rhythm and lands punches right through it.
Mix in forward and backward movement along with your side weaves. Stepping toward an opponent to punch, then pulling back or sliding sideways, keeps them guessing while you land a full chain. Unpredictable movement is what lets a combo run to COMBO X4 and beyond instead of stalling at the first hit.

Change your angle and position
Weaving side to side dodges punches, but it often leaves you standing in the same spot relative to your opponent. Real pressure comes from moving around them. Attack from their left, shift to their right, then swing in from behind so they can never square up and punch you cleanly.
This matters even more in a crowded server. When several players are swinging at once, rotating your position keeps you off-angle from every attacker while you keep landing hits on your main target. Combine the weave, the varied movement, and the angle changes, and you can hold a high combo streak in the middle of a chaotic free-for-all.
Edge awareness feeds into this too. On an open baseplate, knockback and slams can push a careless player off the arena. Use your positioning to keep the edge behind your opponent, not behind you, so a well-timed grab or slam finishes the fight in your favor.

Gamepasses that change how you fight
The core fight is free, but a handful of gamepasses adjust your combat output. None of them replace the skill of weaving and positioning, though faster or harder hits do change your damage math in a chain.
| Gamepass | Price (Robux) | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Faster Attack | 25 | Quicker punch speed |
| Harder Punches | 50 | More damage per hit |
| X2 XP | 550 | Double experience per match |
| X2 Clan XP | 250 | Double clan experience |

How to tell your skills are improving
You know the mechanics are clicking when the green DODGED counter stacks several times in a row before you throw a single punch. From there, watch your combo counter. Reaching COMBO X4 against a live player, not a dummy, means your movement is unpredictable enough to keep them from interrupting you.
The game also tracks progress with levels and knockout badges. Earning your first knockout, then climbing toward the 100 and 1,000 kill milestones, is a concrete measure that your weaving and angle control are translating into wins. Keep the three mechanics tight, practice against real opponents, and the baseplate stops being chaos and starts feeling like a fight you control.
