Iroi in Neverness to Everness: Should You Pull the First Limited Healer?

A clear breakdown of who Iroi helps, what her kit does, and how many pulls she costs in Version 1.2.

A clear breakdown of who Iroi helps, what her kit does, and how many pulls she costs in Version 1.2.

Iroi is the second S-Class of Neverness to Everness Version 1.2 “999 Nights,” arriving in Phase 2 as the game’s first limited-time healer and buffer. She is an Anima, ranged support built on the Liquid Arc archetype, and her whole value comes from keeping your carry alive while pushing their damage higher. That framing decides everything, because she is not fighting to be your strongest unit. She is competing with your next damage dealer for the same currency.

Quick answer: Pull Iroi if you already run an aggressive or fragile carry that hates leaving the field (Shinku, Nanally, or a Cosmos core with Mint), or if your account lacks a reliable premium healer. Skip her if you have no carry worth buffing, your current sustain already clears your hardest content, or you are saving for a Version 1.3 unit you want more.

Iroi banner window and role in NTE 1.2

Iroi headlines “The Lifeline” Limited Board, which opens right after Shinku’s Phase 1 board closes. Her signature Arc runs on a separate Arc Research Program during the same window.

Note: her final kit values can still shift with tuning. Treat the numbers below as directional and confirm them in-game before spending your last few thousand Annulith.

What Iroi actually does

Iroi is an off-field support. Instead of standing on the field to top up HP bars, she summons three dream lambs, Phantasos, Morpheus, and Icelos, that build a persistent dream field and attack on their own. That lets your carry stay in control while healing runs in the background.

  • Redirect Skill: Tap it to build Imagination through lamb attacks, or hold it to push three teammates into the Regression state, where they become briefly invincible and are stood in for by the lambs.
  • Ultimate (3.8-Billion-Year Mirage): Below the Imagination threshold it heals the whole team continuously. Above the threshold it deals area Anima damage and can revive one fallen, Regressed ally.
  • Support Skill (Bang!): Deals one instance of Anima damage, heals all allies, and adds Imagination when you swap to her.
  • Attack buff: She grants allies bonus ATK based on her own base ATK, turning her heals into a damage boost.

Regression is her standout safety tool. A mistimed dodge no longer ends a run, since a lamb covers the character while they sit invincible for a moment. One caveat worth remembering: holding the skill by accident locks those allies out of their own skills and Ultimates for that window, so learn the tap-versus-hold input early.

As an Anima unit she also triggers the Blossom reaction alongside Cosmos carries, which smooths energy generation and keeps rotations flowing. That reaction is the main reason her name keeps coming up next to Shinku.

Who should pull Iroi

The strongest case for Iroi is durability of value. A support ages far better than a pure DPS, because new patches keep threatening to outclass whatever carry you own now, while a universal buffer keeps working on every carry that follows. Buy Iroi once and she lifts your whole roster.

  • You run a fragile, high-tempo carry that cannot afford to swap out to heal, like Shinku during her Surging Crimson burst.
  • You want a unit that stays relevant across a year of patches rather than one whose ceiling erodes each release.
  • Your account still lacks a reliable premium healer for high-difficulty content or comfortable exploration.
  • You value the guaranteed board. Every Limited Board S-Class you pull is Iroi, so there is no 50/50 coin flip.

Her flagship partners are Shinku, whom she keeps alive through the frantic burst window while triggering Blossom, and Nanally, a mobile carry whose attack strings you never want to interrupt. She also anchors a compact Anima/Cosmos core alongside Mint. The common thread is a carry that benefits from long field time.

When to skip or delay

A support only pays off when there is something worth supporting. If any of the following apply, holding your Annulith is the safer call.

  • You have no damage dealer worth amplifying yet. Fix the DPS slot first, or her buffs land on a weak carry.
  • Your current healer already clears the content you play. For those accounts she is a smoothness upgrade, not a gap-filler.
  • Shinku drained your reserves. Iroi is off-field value that stays excellent whenever she reruns, so there is little penalty in waiting.
  • You are banking for an upcoming 1.3 unit such as Zankou and cannot afford both.

Pull cost and pity on Scarborough Fair

NTE uses a dice-board gacha called Scarborough Fair. You spend Annulith to roll on the Limited Board, and because there is no 50/50, every featured S-Class you land is guaranteed to be Iroi.

MechanicValue
Cost per roll160 Annulith
Soft pity70 rolls (rate jumps from ~1.87% to ~19.59%)
Hard pity90 rolls (guaranteed Iroi)
Worst-case cost14,400 Annulith
Signature ArcGuarantees within ~80 rolls (~12,800 Annulith)

For most accounts, a single unawakened Iroi already does her whole job, so budgeting around soft pity (roughly 80 rolls, about 12,800 Annulith) is enough. Chase early Awakenings only if you want the team-wide CRIT DMG they add, and fold in her signature Arc only past around 200 rolls, and only if she will be your permanent support. The Arc is a ceiling upgrade, not an activation cost.

How to build Iroi correctly

Her healing and many of her buffs scale with ATK, so gear her as an ATK-focused support rather than a pure medic. The most common mistake is treating her like a DPS and chasing the wrong substats.

SlotRecommendation
Best ArcThe Wrong Gate (signature; heal triggers a team DMG buff and raises her Anima DMG)
Alt ArcsYouthful Fantasy, Clear Skies (budget)
ModulesSpeedy Hedgehog, or Fireflies and the Forest
Main statsATK%, ATK, CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG
Substats priorityATK% > ATK > CRIT Rate > Cycle Intensity
Skill priorityUltimate > Skill > QTE > Basic Attack
Awakening nodesA3, A5, A6

Her best-known team pairs her with a Shinku hypercarry core, adding Chaos and Hathor for off-element burst. An Anima-flavored alternative runs Iroi with Nanally and Zero, with Hotori stacking extra buffs.

Judge Iroi against the carry you plan to pair her with and the content you actually struggle on. For accounts that already field an aggressive Cosmos DPS, she is the more future-proof pull of the patch, since a buffer that scales with your whole roster keeps paying out long after any single damage dealer falls out of the meta. For rosters that already survive everything comfortably, she is an optional luxury. Get the carry first, gear her with ATK and Cycle Intensity, and let the Awakenings and signature Arc come later.
