Fisch: How to Get the Husk Mutation with the Requiem Rod

The only reliable source is the Requiem Rod, which has a 20% chance to apply Husk on every catch.

The only reliable source is the Requiem Rod, which has a 20% chance to apply Husk on every catch.

Husk is one of the tougher mutations to chase in Fisch, not because the odds are bad, but because the gatekeeping is steep. It turns a fish light brown and translucent, and it lowers the sell value rather than boosting it. If you want it for a quest, a full mutation collection, or a specific Husk fish, there is exactly one path that gets you there.

Quick answer: Craft the Requiem Rod and keep fishing with it. The rod has a flat 20% chance to apply Husk on every fish you catch, and no other method reliably produces the mutation.

What the Husk mutation does

Husk is a value-decreasing mutation. Instead of raising what a fish sells for, it multiplies the sell value by 0.14×, so a Husk catch is worth far less than the base fish. Its main appeal is completion and appearance, not profit.

PropertyDetail
TypeMutation
Sell value0.14× multiplier
AppearanceLight brown and translucent
Priority+2 (higher priority overrides value)
AppraisableNo
IntroducedVersion 1.67.0

Because Husk is unappraisable, you cannot roll or improve it through appraisal. The priority value of +2 means it can override other mutations of lower priority when both would otherwise apply.

Requiem Rod crafting requirements

The Requiem Rod is the only tool that applies Husk, so everything starts with crafting it. You build it at the crafting anvil inside the Ancient Archives, and the requirements are high because this is a late-game rod.

RequirementAmount
Level1,000
Requiem Essence5
Requiem Core1
Awakened Omnithal1
Fossilized Plesiosaur1
Coins15,000,000

The level 1,000 gate is the longest part of the process. Once you meet the level and have every material in hand, the actual craft is a single payment of 15 million coins at the anvil.

How to apply Husk once you have the rod

Equip the Requiem Rod from your inventory. Nothing about the location or bait matters for the mutation itself, since the 20% chance is tied to the rod, not to a zone or event.

Fish normally and complete your catches. Every fish you reel in has a 20% chance to come out with the Husk mutation, so this comes down to volume.
Keep fishing until Husk appears. If you are hunting a specific Husk fish, target the fish you want and repeat catches until the mutation rolls on it.

Note: The 20% rate is a per-catch chance, not a guarantee across a set number of casts. Streaks of nothing are normal, and so are back-to-back Husk rolls.

How to confirm you got Husk

A Husk fish is easy to spot. The catch will look light brown and translucent, and the mutation is listed on the fish when you inspect it. Adding it to your Bestiary confirms the mutation is registered for collection or quest purposes.

Why Husk may not appear

  • You are not using the Requiem Rod. No other rod applies Husk, so any other rod will never roll it.
  • You simply have not caught enough fish yet. At a 20% chance per catch, long dry runs happen.
  • A higher-priority mutation took precedence on that particular catch.

The grind to level 1,000 and the material cost are the real hurdles here. Once the Requiem Rod is in your hands, Husk becomes a straightforward numbers game, and steady fishing will get you the mutation you need.
