The new Path to Doomsday chapter pits five reworked Avengers against Ultron's Sentries inside Avengers Tower.

The new Path to Doomsday chapter pits five reworked Avengers against Ultron’s Sentries inside Avengers Tower.

Marvel Rivals is adding a new co-op mode built around Avengers: Age of Ultron, the next chapter in the game’s ongoing Path to Doomsday series. Players take control of the Avengers and defend Avengers Tower after Ultron corrupts F.R.I.D.A.Y. and floods the building with Sentry bots. It goes live on July 30, 2026.

Quick answer: The Path to Doomsday – Avengers: Age of Ultron PvE mode launches July 30, 2026 at 9 AM UTC. You play as Captain America, Black Widow, Iron Man, Hulk, or Scarlet Witch against Ultron and his Sentries. Ultron and Hawkeye are not playable.

Release time: July 30, 2026 at 9:00 AM UTC

Playable heroes in the Age of Ultron PvE mode

Because this is a player-versus-environment mode, your roster is fixed to a set of Avengers pulled from the film. You cannot bring the villain into the fight. In the earlier Avengers (2012) mode, Loki was playable because it ran as an asymmetrical PvP match. This one does not work that way, so Ultron stays on the enemy side.

Hawkeye is absent despite his role in the movie. Black Widow arrives with her Season 9 rework, so her kit here reflects those changes.

How the mode plays

The structure lines up closely with Blood Hunt, the horde-style PvE mode that was recently extended into October. You and your team hold off waves of Ultron’s drones rather than fighting other players. To survive the swarm, each hero’s kit is tuned slightly and their health pool is raised, matching how Blood Hunt handles its heroes.

That opens the door to experimenting with different builds for the five available Avengers, since the encounters are designed around large groups of robots instead of a single enemy team.

Maps: Avengers Tower and Ultron’s Data Space

The fight moves through two locations tied to the story. The first is Avengers Tower, breached after the Ultron Virus corrupts F.R.I.D.A.Y. The second is Ultron’s Data Space. The Avengers Tower map was built specifically for this mode, so it is not part of the standard PvP rotation. You will not be able to run modes like Convoy on it.

Story cinematics, dialogue, and new skins

The mode leans hard into the film. It ships with new story cinematics and dialogue from the movie re-recorded by the game’s voice actors, framing the invasion of Avengers Tower around Ultron’s attack.

Two MCU-accurate costumes tie into the release. Ultron gets a faithful recreation of his Age of Ultron look, and Scarlet Witch gets her grittier, battle-worn film outfit. Both were shown at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 alongside a Winter Soldier costume from Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and all three head to the in-game store so you can grab them before diving in.

Platforms and what comes next

Marvel Rivals runs on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. The Age of Ultron mode arrives on those platforms on July 30 (UTC).

This is the second chapter of Path to Doomsday, following the Avengers (2012) mode. The series is set to close out with new game modes and events tied to Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday in December 2026, expected to center on Doctor Doom, who has served as the game’s in-fiction antagonist since launch. Specific details on that content have not been announced yet.
