Every run in Mistfall Hunter ends one of two ways. You either carry your Gyldenblod and relics back to your warehouse, or you die and lose all of it. Killing monsters and cracking open chests means nothing until you actually get out, and the game gives you a few different exits depending on how much you want to risk and how much you want to keep.
Quick answer: To extract, find and defeat a Returner Woodling, interact with the bell on the Soul Tree it leaves behind so it rings five times, then press F to leave with everything you are carrying.
The three exits in Mistfall Hunter, compared
Two of these methods end your run, and one lets you bank loot while you keep playing. Pick based on what you are holding and how safe your position is.
| Method | Fight required? | What you keep |
|---|---|---|
| Returner Woodling | Yes | Your full run inventory |
| Smuggler Woodling | No | Equipped gear plus a limited amount of items |
| Merchant Woodling | No | Only the items you pay to send home (run continues) |

Add to Google Preferences →Extract with the Returner Woodling (full loot)
This is the main way out and the only one that carries your entire haul. The Returner Woodling spawns at a random point during the match and appears on the map for everyone in the run, so expect company.

Note: In a trio, only one player extracts per bell. A three-person squad needs three separate bells to all get out together.
Use the Smuggler Woodling as an emergency exit
The Smuggler Woodling also spawns randomly partway through a match, and it is the fast escape when a run goes wrong. There is no fight. You reach it, interact with it, and you are out.
The trade-off is what you keep. A Smuggler exit only brings back your equipped items plus a limited selection of what you are carrying, so the rest of your haul is left behind. Treat it as a backup for saving your gear when the map is closing in or you cannot reach a Returner Woodling in time, not as your go-to exit.
Send loot home with the Merchant Woodling without leaving
Sometimes you want to protect a valuable drop but keep hunting. Merchant Woodlings are scattered around the map for exactly that. Interact with one, spend Gyldenblod, and it ships selected items back to safety while your run continues.
This is the safest way to lock in a big find early. If you die later, anything you already smuggled out through a Merchant is still yours.
Extract early to beat the mist and the campers
Leave as soon as you are holding loot worth protecting rather than pushing until the last moment. As the Gyldenmist closes in, Woodlings get much harder to reach and track, and the shrinking map funnels everyone into the same few routes.
The end of a run is the most dangerous stretch precisely because every surviving player is racing toward an exit at the same time. Scan the ground around any Woodling before you commit, and if you are solo, assume someone is waiting for you to start ringing that bell.
Death inside the Gyldenmist wipes your entire run inventory, so a modest haul you actually extract beats a legendary drop you die holding. You can review platforms, classes, and launch details on the official Mistfall Hunter Steam page before your next drop.
