Sol’s RNG: How to Get Summer Points in the Summer Event

Fire the Ice Gun turret at the sun to lower global heat and bank Summer Points for turret upgrades.

Summer Points, shown in-game as SP, are the currency that powers the turret upgrade path during the Sol’s RNG summer update (version v0.8.2d [BLAZING SUN]). You earn them mainly by cooling down the sun, and you spend them to make your cooling weapon hit harder.

Quick answer: Complete Lime’s quest to unlock the Turret (Ice Gun), then fire it at the sun. Each shot triggers the “HEAT LOWERED 100” prompt, lowers global heat, and pays out Summer Points.

What Summer Points are used for

Summer Points feed directly into the Turret, also called the Ice Gun. You use SP to upgrade the turret through four levels, with each level improving how it performs when you fire at the sun. Before you can spend anything, the turret itself has to be unlocked, and that gate is tied to Lime.

Unlock the Turret through Lime’s quest first

The Ice Gun is locked until you finish Lime’s quest. Walk over to the NPC named Lime and complete the assigned task. Once it’s done, the Weapon Control Panel becomes available and the “Current Progress” board starts tracking your “Global Heat Lowered” total, which begins at “You’ve lowered 0 Heat.”

Fire the Ice Gun at the sun to earn SP

Open the Weapon Control Panel for your Ice Gun. At the start it reads “Ice Gun”, “// Level 1”, with a “Charged Energy [100%]” meter and an “Overcharged Energy” percentage below it.
Confirm you have charge ready. The turret builds charge points over time, so wait until “Charged Energy” reaches 100% before firing for a full-value shot.
Aim the Ice Gun at the sun and fire. A “HEAT LOWERED 100” prompt appears, global heat drops, and Summer Points are added to your total.
Repeat as your charge regenerates. Every shot at the sun keeps lowering global heat and topping up your SP balance.

How turret charge and overcharge work

The turret runs on a charge system. Charge points accumulate every 4 seconds, and the rate changes depending on the active biome and the time of day. You receive two full 100% charges per day, and those can stack.

MechanicDetail
Charge tick rateCharge points added every 4 seconds
Rate modifiersAffected by active biome and time of day
Daily chargesTwo 100% charges granted per day
OverchargeStack both charges up to 200% for a stronger shot

Tip: Let both charges build to a 200% overcharge before firing. The overcharge shot is more efficient, so you clear more heat and bank more SP per shot than firing twice at 100%.

Other ways to earn Summer Points

The turret is the primary source, but two side activities also pay out SP.

How to confirm it worked

You know a turret shot landed when the “HEAT LOWERED 100” prompt shows on screen and the “Global Heat Lowered” figure on the Current Progress board climbs from its starting “0 Heat.” Your Summer Points total rises at the same time, giving you the SP needed to push the Ice Gun toward Level 4.

If a shot doesn’t fire, check your “Charged Energy” reading. The turret needs stored charge to shoot, so a low or empty meter means you have to wait for it to build back up before aiming at the sun again.
