Palworld 1.0: How to Fly Faster Than Jetragon Without a Mount

Chain grapple bounces, jump gear, and gravity-cutting partner skills to cross the map faster than the game's quickest flyer.

Chain grapple bounces, jump gear, and gravity-cutting partner skills to cross the map faster than the game’s quickest flyer.

The fastest way across the Palworld map in 1.0 doesn’t have to involve a saddle. By canceling a grappling hook at the right moment and pairing it with a glider that keeps your speed, you can launch your character forward fast enough to outrun Jetragon over open ground. Stack the right jump gear and a couple of Pal partner skills, and you can also fling yourself into the air like a rocket. Here is exactly how each piece works and how to chain them.

Quick answer: Fire an Ultra or Hyper Grappling Gun at a surface, press the cancel key (default Ctrl) mid-pull, and hit jump at the peak of your momentum to launch forward. Deploy the Hyper Glider to keep that speed, and you’ll travel faster than a flying mount.

Gear you need before you start

Mount-free speed depends on three things: a strong grappling gun, jump gear that adds height and mid-air jumps, and a glider that preserves your grapple momentum. The higher-tier grappling guns pull you farther and faster, which directly increases how much speed you carry into the bounce.

ItemWhat it does
Ultra Grappling GunTop tier for player travel; longest, fastest pull
Hyper Grappling GunStrong alternative to the Ultra
Giga / Mega Grappling GunLower tiers; usable but slower bounces
Anti-Gravity BeltBoosts jump power
Triple Jump BootsAdds two mid-air jumps
Hyper GliderKeeps your high grapple speed while gliding
Wing PackCaps you at its default flight speed, killing momentum

Note: The Wing Pack looks convenient, but it locks your speed to its own slow flight value. For fast travel, always reach for the Hyper Glider instead.

Grapple bouncing to outrun Jetragon

Grapple bouncing is the core trick. You use the grappling gun to build forward momentum, then release it and jump before you lose that speed. Done in a rhythm, each bounce feeds into the next, letting you skim across terrain faster than the game’s quickest flying mount.

Aim your grappling gun at a surface ahead of you and fire. The hook starts pulling you toward it, building speed.

While you’re still being pulled, press the cancel key (Ctrl by default) to release the hook. Your character keeps the momentum from the pull for a brief moment.
At the peak of that momentum, press jump to launch forward. Time it right and you shoot ahead at high speed.
Fire the grapple again and repeat the cancel-and-jump rhythm to chain bounces. To cover long gaps, deploy the Hyper Glider after a bounce so the speed carries into your glide.

You’ll know it’s working when your forward speed noticeably exceeds a normal sprint, and a side-by-side against a Jetragon shows you keeping pace or pulling ahead over the same distance. If you feel slow, you likely deployed the Wing Pack instead of the Hyper Glider, or you jumped after the momentum had already faded.

Jump gear and Pal skills that add height

Horizontal speed is only half the toolkit. To gain massive height without a mount, you combine jump gear with partner skills that reduce gravity or physically launch you. Each piece stacks on top of the others.

SourceEffect
Anti-Gravity BeltIncreases jump power
Triple Jump BootsGrants two extra mid-air jumps
Croajiro (Leap Stance)Launches you high when you jump on top of it
Valentail (Big Stretch)Reduces gravity, making jumps floatier
Verdash (Grassland Gymnast)Extra jump, but does not stack with Triple Jump Boots

Note: Verdash’s extra jump and the Triple Jump Boots overlap, so running both together gives you no benefit. Pick one and use the other Pal slot for something like Valentail instead.

The mega launch combo for extreme height

This combo stacks a Croajiro launch with reduced gravity and every jump you have available to fling yourself far into the sky, then glide out from the top.

Summon Croajiro (or Croajiro Noct) and activate its Leap Stance partner skill.
Have Valentail out so its Big Stretch skill lowers your gravity, keeping you airborne longer.
Jump onto Croajiro to get launched high into the air.
Near the top of the launch, use your Triple Jump Boots and Anti-Gravity Belt to squeeze out extra height, then deploy a glider to travel outward from the peak.

Cross-map flight combo for long distances

To cover the widest distances, blend the horizontal speed of grapple bouncing with the floatiness of reduced gravity. Build momentum on the ground first, then convert it into a long, low-gravity glide.

Chain a few grapple bounces to build up high forward speed.
Keep Valentail active so Big Stretch lowers your gravity while you’re moving fast.
Deploy the Hyper Glider at the peak of a bounce. The glider holds your grapple speed, and the reduced gravity keeps you aloft, so you drift across a huge stretch of map in one go.

Raise your base movement speed first

Every trick above starts from your character’s running speed, so it’s worth boosting that baseline. Offering Pal Effigies at a statue permanently increases your movement speed by up to 50 percent, which makes sprinting between bounces quicker and gives each launch a stronger starting push. Do this early and every later combo feels snappier.

Once the gear and Pals are in place, the whole map becomes reachable on foot. Grapple bouncing handles fast ground travel, the Croajiro and Valentail combo handles vertical launches, and the Hyper Glider ties both together for distance. It’s a full mobility kit that never asks you to tame the game’s fastest dragon.
