Technology Points are the currency that unlocks new recipes in Palworld, from workbenches and weapons to Pal Gear and base structures. Leveling up hands them out for free early on, but the pace slows down hard at higher levels. Once that happens, Technical Manuals become the way to keep adding points without waiting for the next level.
Quick answer: Level up and activate every fast travel statue for one-time Technology Points, then consume Technical Manuals for a repeatable supply. Farm those manuals from dungeon reward chests, fishing spots, Pal Sanctuaries, and expeditions.
Free Technology Points from leveling and exploring
Every time your character gains a level, you receive Technology Points automatically. Nearly everything you do feeds experience into that bar, so catching Pals, building, gathering, and fighting all push you toward the next level. Capturing the same Pal repeatedly is especially efficient, since hitting ten captures of one species grants an experience bonus.
Fast travel points are the second no-cost source. Each Great Eagle Statue you unlock for the first time gives one Technology Point. They glow orange until you activate them, then turn blue, so the more of the map you uncover, the more points you collect just by moving around.

These two methods only pay out once per level and once per statue. That makes them reliable in the early game but not something you can grind, which is where manuals come in.

Technical Manuals are consumable books. Use one from your inventory and it converts directly into Technology Points, with each type worth a set amount. Because they can be farmed, they are the only way to keep gaining points once leveling stalls out.
Note that the Ancient Technical Manual is different from the other three. It gives Ancient Technology Points, which fuel a separate tree and are covered further down.
| Technical Manual | What it gives |
|---|---|
Advanced Technical Manual | A few Technology Points. |
Innovative Technical Manual | Technology Points from cutting-edge tech. |
Futuristic Technical Manual | Lots of Technology Points. |
Ancient Technical Manual | One Ancient Technology Point (separate currency). |
To claim the points, open your inventory and use the manual the same way you would eat food or drink a potion. Your Technology Point total in the tech tree jumps by the manual’s value right away, confirming it worked.
Where to farm Technical Manuals
Manuals come from several repeatable sources spread across the world. Dungeon chests are the most efficient, but fishing and expeditions add steady extras while you do other things.
| Source | Details |
|---|---|
| Dungeon reward chests | Chests at the end of a dungeon can hold any of the four manuals. Dungeons respawn, so you can rerun them as often as you like. |
| Fishing | Fishing Ponds, Large Fishing Ponds, and spots marked with purple lights can pull up manuals. Deluxe Bait improves your odds. |
| Pal Sanctuaries | Multiple chests here can contain both regular and Ancient Technical Manuals. |
| Terraria Dungeon (Level 45+) | Defeating the boss can reward regular and Ancient Technical Manuals. |
| Expeditions | Treasure maps, enemy camps, and supply drops all have a chance to include manuals. |
Higher-level dungeons tend to drop better manuals, so scaling your combat team up pays off directly in points. Some players also breed and recycle Pals such as Anubis to farm Innovative Technical Manuals, though that needs heavy investment in cake production and breeding time.
Regular vs. Ancient Technology Points
The Technology tab shows two separate totals. Regular Technology Points sit on the main tree and unlock most weapons, armor, tools, and base structures. Ancient Technology Points live in the purple column on the far right and unlock a smaller set of high-value gear like the Egg Incubator, Pal Essence Condenser, and Grappling Gun.
Ancient Technology Points are far more limited. You earn them from one-time rewards, then only from Ancient Technical Manuals afterward.
| Ancient Technology Point source | Reward |
|---|---|
| Defeat a Tower Boss | 5 points the first time only. All nine towers give up to 45 points total. |
| Defeat or capture an Alpha Pal | 1 point the first time; repeats give no more points. |
| Complete a Bounty (Human Alpha) | 1 point on first completion. |
| Use an Ancient Technical Manual | 1 point each, repeatable. |
Alpha Pals also drop Ancient Civilization Parts, a material several Ancient Technology recipes require. Once the boss, Alpha, and Bounty rewards are claimed, Ancient Technical Manuals from dungeon chests are your only ongoing source.
What to unlock first
Recipes unlock in rows as you gain levels, and each one costs a different number of points, so spending selectively matters early. Prioritize the essentials that keep you progressing, then branch out.
- Palbox and Pal Sphere for capturing and managing Pals
- Campfire, Feed Box, and a bed to sustain yourself and your Pals
- Cloth and Cloth Outfit plus a Common Shield for basic protection
- Berry Plantation and Ranch for early food and resources
- Pal Gear such as saddles to ride Pals and use their Partner Skills
On the Ancient side, the Egg Incubator is a strong first pick so you can hatch eggs, followed by the Pal Essence Condenser to strengthen your favorite Pals. Because there is no simple way to reset the tree, plan your spending around long-term goals rather than filling out every row at once.
