A Proper Shipwright is the officer quest that puts Lucy Baldwin on the Jackdaw as its Shipwright in Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced. It sends you to a British prison ship in the Dry Tortuga region, where you free Lucy and then fight off her captors at sea. Finish it and you unlock one of the most useful naval defensive moves in the game.

After the cutscene you return to the Jackdaw and take the wheel. Three British ships move to intercept you, and sinking all three finishes the quest. They are not difficult targets, so this is a good moment to board them instead of simply blasting them apart. Boarding lets you repair the Jackdaw and pick up extra crew and loot before you sail off.
Rewards for completing A Proper Shipwright
Recruiting Lucy makes her the Jackdaw’s Shipwright and grants the Perfect Brace ability. Perfect Brace sharply cuts the damage the Jackdaw takes when you brace at the exact moment before an enemy hit lands, which matters a great deal in the tougher naval battles.
