A Rekviem for the Underworld is Chapter VII: Act IV of the Archon Quest line, and it brings Snezhnaya’s plan against Ronova, the Ruler of Death, to a head. It landed with Version 7.1 on September 23, 2026, and it stays permanently available once you meet the requirements. The act splits into three quests — Delusion, Etched in Time, and Black Feathers Scattered at Parting — and moves from a controlled lab test into a multi-phase fight against a Shade.
Quick answer: Finish Chapter VII: Act III first, then play Delusion, Etched in Time, and Black Feathers Scattered at Parting in order. A full run takes about 2 hours 25 minutes to 3 hours 15 minutes.
Everything past this point spoils the story, including how the Ronova confrontation ends.
How to unlock A Rekviem for the Underworld

- Complete Chapter VII: Act III, White Night, Like a Dream Upon Waking.
- You can use Focused Experience Mode to jump ahead even if your Chapter VII progress is behind.

Speedrun times assume auto dialogue and mashing through text. The longer times include the optional NPC chats after cutscenes. The Delusion quest log lists 60,450 Mora, 5 Primogems, and 9 Hero’s Wit, and clearing all of Version 7.1’s Archon Quest content pays out 620 Primogems in total.
Completing the newest Archon Quest opens the sixth anniversary selection, letting you claim one event-exclusive 5-star character from the lineup for free at any point in Version 7.1.
Delusion: the three experiment rounds

Hardware is not responsible for the instability. Along with Death, the new Delusion drew on a second authority tied to the unstudied Crimson Moon; this caused the hallucinations in the maximum-output trial.
Etched in Time: the Mirror of Remembrance and the Harbinger vote
Dialogue and elevator trips make up nearly the whole quest. The Armory Palace elevator serves four stops, and the quest takes you to three: the Mirror of Remembrance, the Combat Upgrade Laboratory, and the Sealed-Off Archive.

Black Feathers Scattered at Parting: the road to Ronova
Ronova boss fight mechanics
The encounter identifies the boss as Ronova, Arbiter of the Heavenly Principles, subtitled Paralogism’s Outcast. Rather than relying on an ordinary health bar, the battle centers on your “Life” being drained away. Your party is assigned for these sections by the quest, so no particular roster is needed.
- Dodge attacks, or “Death” erodes your “Life.”
- When Torrent of Death strikes, approach the displaced “Life” and collect it again.
- Vesna joins the trial party, and her “Authority of Life” is closely linked to the life-drain mechanic.
Escape the afterlife
Ronova kills the party at the end of the first phase, and the objective changes to “Escape the afterlife.” This is a platforming stretch with a beam puzzle rather than a fight. Line up the Prime Ice Construct: Link Mechanism crystals to open the grand gateway, and pick up the memory prompts along the route. Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, and Natlan each grant a line of resolve before you wake up on the battlefield.
Defeat Ronova after she is stripped of her power
The revival is the snare Pierro warned about earlier. As the battle continues, the Tsaritsa keeps Rhinedottir occupied at Zapolyarny Palace and stretches time in the tea room with the six Gnoses, letting Celestia’s authorized period for Ronova run out unnoticed. Pierro and Dainsleif arrive carrying the completed Eye of the Fatui; its spear strikes Ronova, and Celestia withdraws her Authority of Death. Defeat her in the weakened phase, speak with your companions, and then talk to Paimon.
How to confirm the act is complete
Once the final conversation with Paimon ends, a full-screen banner reads “Chapter VII: Act IV Complete — A Rekviem for the Underworld — Quest Completed,” and a “To be continued” card follows. No objectives remain for the act in your quest log, and you can now claim the anniversary free 5-star selection. If either of those is missing, you still have companion or Paimon dialogue left to clear.
Rather than tying everything up, the final scene points toward what comes next. Ronova strikes a celestial pillar, summons Eitr of Hyperborea out of the Shadow Realm, and channels it into the Skyfrost Nail above eastern Snezhnaya. In response, celestial nails shine across Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Natlan, and Snezhnaya, while star-shaped rifts appear in the sky. You can also challenge Ronova again outside the story, as she is now a Weekly Boss.
